It was on the 12th of June in the summer of 1976 that we got to #1 in the charts aboard The Combine Harvester! And who would have thought that 50 years on we would still be going, and still making people dance, sing and laugh!😁 THANK YOU to everybody for your support!😀🍏🍻

On this day in 1994: a swallowless 47850 departs from Oxford on a northbound cross country service.

Automated? F*ck my old boots. There isn't even an intermittent setting on the windscreen wipers on my basic traction.
Replying to @obioneyouknowme
You're an idiot. Trains are already automated. There's no such thing as a train driver anymore. I have freinds who work on the underground, docklands light and network rail. They are glorified security guards on at least 80k a year basic.

I keep hearing from "software experts" about how simple it should be to automate mixed traffic main line railways. I'd love just one of them to put their money where their mouth is.

Kudos to Serenity.
You can leave me and my name out of this, thanks. And I'm not sure what "this country" has to do with it, either, unless you're suggesting it's too 'woke'. I don't know, you'd have to go back to 1988 and talk to my Mum about that one. ^ Serenity (yes, my actual name)

To Normandy! One of my grandfather's photos. The lack of troops on deck suggests that it was probably a training run prior to the event, but it still evokes the D-Day spirit.

Praise where it is due. Accessibility services for my wife at Gatwick and Malaga airports was absolutely spot-on, without pre-booking.

This really is Two-Tier Britain. Those who know how to respect a grieving family’s wishes, and those who don’t.

The day that 5080 "Defiance" was almost taken under the railway bridge at Fleet Marston, but luckily they noticed the height restriction in time. The reversing manoeuvre must have been interesting. 19/05/17.

I'm a secret but incurable Wurzels fan. It must have been meeting Tommy Banner at Portishead flower show when I was a kid. He signed the Famous Five paperback I bought that day. youtu.be/3_l1FxmGNYM?si=T4pG…

That was a foolhardy thing to post. I mean, really, what were your marketing people actually thinking?
As things heat up, remember to bring water and stay hydrated. If you feel unwell on board, please speak to our team — we’re here to help. And if you’re travelling on one of our Aterio trains today, enjoy the cool air con breeze.

Gloucester Rail Day at Horton Road shed on 01/07/90. 31970 and 60014 "Alexander Fleming". Open pit roads and climbing into random cabs was still a thing then.

What should the rail industry do about failing air-con? It is an issue that isn't going to go away.

43028 at Gloucester on an unrecorded date in 1988. This was my daily train to school for several years. This particular power car is still in passenger service with Scotrail.

"Woke" just means putting a modicum of effort into not being a cunt.

Rail artefact feature: a broken Midland Railway chair dated 1889. I found it at the former Stroud Road subway on the MR Tuffley loop, Gloucester, about 30 years ago, after part of the retaining wall collapsed. And yes, I do need to repaint my shed.
