My parents passed away when I was a teenager which obviously had a huge impact on my life, but losing them so young also led to a lot of unexpected challenges for the start of my academic career

I also have to say how lovely it was to finally thank, in person, @DrMelanieBurke for the wonderful experience I had during my PhD viva. Mel was my external examiner and my viva was held virtually due to covid so it was great to finally meet in person, albeit 2 years later!
