🚨 BREAKING: Virginia State Police have released preliminary findings in the deadly I-95 crash in Stafford County.
Police say a preliminary investigation indicates traffic on southbound I-95 was slowing for an upcoming work zone when a charter bus operated by E&P Travel, traveling from New York City to Charlotte, failed to slow and struck a Chevrolet Suburban.
The chain-reaction crash involved multiple vehicles and left five people dead:
• A 45-year-old man, 44-year-old woman, 13-year-old girl, and 7-year-old boy from Greenfield, Massachusetts, who were inside an Acura that caught fire after the crash.
• A 25-year-old woman from Worcester, Massachusetts, who was in the Chevrolet Suburban.
The bus was carrying approximately 34 people. About 44 patients were transported to area hospitals, including three with critical injuries.
The bus driver, 48-year-old Jing S. Dong of Staten Island, was injured. Charges are pending.
Authorities shared photos from the scene. They are graphic, and I’ve chosen not to post them.
The investigation remains ongoing.
