🥫 Attention SNAP Customers 🥫 Food bought with SNAP, State Food, or Summer EBT benefits may be replaced if destroyed in a disaster. A disaster is a fire, flood, tornado, or other devastating event beyond the control of the unit. Food reported destroyed in a disaster may be replaced if: •the Food Assistance unit member or approved representative signs and dates a request for replacement and the request is made within 10 calendar days upon discovery of the destroyed food due to a disaster; and •the disaster is verified. Food may be replaced due to a power outage of at least 4 hours. Do not approve replacement of SNAPnew manual material, State Food or Summer EBT benefits: •if the loss of power was due to nonpayment of utility service; or •when food was destroyed because of a mechanical problem, such as a refrigerator breakdown. Customers approved for initial food benefits that receive two month's issuances in the same month and then report destroyed food during the issuance month, may only receive a replacement of destroyed food for the maximum of one month's allotment. Food Assistance households that are cancelled due to not returning their redetermination before the end of the certification period, who then submit an untimely redetermination: •may receive both the restored benefit amount and current month issuance if the destroyed food is reported timely, including when both monthly issuances were received in the same month the food was destroyed.

Chicago Alderman Byron Sigcho Lopez’s independent congressional campaign for IL04 is in serious trouble: after the records exam, he’s 1,222 signatures under the minimum required to make the ballot.

While surveying the 15th Ward’s Chicago Lawn community, we came upon a fallen pine in the middle of 6400 block of S Whipple. Rather than wait for the city, we decided to work to open the street. Thank you to the residents who came out to help & encourage Jose, Mark, Marty and I.

Today was Round 2 of community clean up in the 15th Ward! #Team15 joined the effort with residents to push tree debris onto the parkway until @StreetsandSan Bureau of Forestry can retrieve them.

🔌 ComEd Restoration Update 🔌 I have received numerous calls of concern from the final 10% of @ComEd customers without power. The majority of those households are within the 15th Ward’s West Englewood community. I am assured crews will be working round the clock to restore power, hopefully by tomorrow. West Englewood has some of the older polls alongside the city’s oldest trees - a double-punch when we needed it the least. I will continue to monitor the situation & apply the necessary pressure on behalf of my communities, especially for my seniors & special needs individuals struggling in this moment.

🪫 ComEd Restoration Update 🪫 Approximately 75% of all 15th Ward @ComEd customers experiencing power outages since Wednesday have had service restored. Roughly 800 ComEd customers remain without power. I am working with ComEd to ensure we are able to restore power to all residents as quickly as possible. In some instances, the double days of extreme weather hampered our efforts - but we will get things fully operational.
