Why is Alberta broke? The answer is actually bragged about in the provincial budget, every year. Alberta could eliminate its debt, invest in services, save billions, and still have the lowest taxes in 🇨🇦. Instead, immigrants are blamed. #ableg #cdnpoli

#cndpoli #canpoli Sarah, In a Westminster system, the role is “Loyal Opposition” Key word: LOYAL Opposition is about scrutiny, alternatives & respect for institutions @CPC_HQ CLEARLY can’t distinguish accountability from grievance politics It’s why you keep losing Canada
Sitting in the opposition benches is hard. It’s not for the weak, it’s not for the timid. It requires resolve, conviction, grit and perseverance. The Official Opposition has the constitutionally mandated role in Parliament to challenge, critique and hold accountable a powerful government that is supposed to opperate in the best interest of the people. When taxpayers’ dollars are wasted, when government ministers mislead or lie, when important information is withheld from the public, or decisions are made that destroy our economy and make things worse for our people, it is up to the opposition members to ask the tough questions, expose, hold to account and pressure the government into being honest, responsible and accountable. Because of the nature of the role, the accompanying tone is often misdiagnosed as unnecessarily negative. But think about it, if your job was to bring to light the poor decisions, financial misuse, and broken promises of another party, it’s reasonable to think that your tone might skew “negative.” Add to that a fierce conviction of justice for a people increasingly impoverished because of the decisions made by the very ones your job is to challenge. Now, some can’t take the gruelling pressure, the grind, and constant fight required to be an effective Member of Parliament sitting in the opposition benches, so they quit. Respect. Some however, see a different path, a shorter one that takes minimal effort, and has many added perks. The only things required are to let self-interest reign, abandon your convictions, betray the very ones who elected you to represent them based on those previously held convictions and beliefs, and then slither over to the cushy government side. It shouldn’t be that surprising that a few ego-driven politicians have chosen this path, weakness and selfishness reside in us all. Couple that though with a lack of integrity and conviction, and you get a politician that confirms people’s sense of skepticism and distrust. But, let me assure you, this is a small handful. Our Conservative team is filled with hardworking, dedicated, principled individuals filled with conviction and resolve to keep fighting for Canadians. Fighting to make food, housing, and fuel more affordable. Fighting to make Canada work for those who do the hard work. And we won’t stop. The promise and potential of our country is in the people. And one day, we will have a Prime Minister and a government who recognizes that fact.

Pierre, Keep blaming everyone else, blame PM Carney, blame the liberals, blame the growing list of conservative MPs abandoning you. Take zero accountability, keep showing off your weak leadership like when you lost the election, lost your seat and stole the seat of another MP.

Alternate headline: Canada’s population grew at a comparable order of magnitude (34.6%) in the 24 years from 2000 to 2024 as from 1976 to 2001 (30.5%). #cdnpoli

Third, Jivani’s claim that Canadians are “fanning the flames of anti-American resentment in Canada” echoes the Trump narrative that Canadians should just sit back and accept Trump’s attacks on our economy and sovereignty and say thank you for being mistreated. Trump said Canada’s borders were fake, denigrated the sacrifice of NATO troops in Afghanistan, imposed tariffs on Canada with the intention of using economic pain to annex us, has referred to our Prime Minister as“Governor,” and continues to issue threats and insults against us. As a result, Canadian opinions towards the U.S. have grown far more negative, a trend seen almost everywhere in the world (even in places that were once extremely pro-US, like Poland). Claiming this is a result of Canadians “fanning the flames of anti-American resentment”, rather than a result of Trump’s actions, is absurd. And by making that absurd claim, Jivani is insulting the Canadian People and carrying water for an Administration that has treated Canada like garbage.

It was notable - and disappointing - that the first response many had to this false information was to again push the idea that Canada needs to walk on eggshells and avoid upsetting Donald Trump. That kind of ongoing submissive behaviour only encourages further bullying of our nation, and the fact that it was based on false info that people didn't bother to verify makes it even more disappointing.

I’m still not sure if enough Americans fully understand how hard it is for the rest of us to continually see polls showing “how unpopular Trump is” when he’s still ridiculously and shockingly more popular than he should be in any sane nation.
