This is what happens when a man feels that the people he wants to communicate with are incapable of rational discussion. I don't condone it, but neither do I judge it. I can't imagine what it would be like to have my son murdered over some utterly senseless BS. I'm at even more of a loss to imagine what it would be like to have my son's murder justified, mocked, and even celebrated 24/7 on social media by countless racist and race-obsessed grifters and jackasses. On top of all this, he's received death threats. I'm not sure there's even a name for the emotion(s) he must be experiencing right now. What an absolute living hell he must be going through. Please give him peace.

Austin Metcalf's dad goes off on complaints Karmelo Anthony's trial had no black jurors. 🎥: JinxedSip

CNN's coverage of the Karmelo Anthony trial was conspicuously muted, as was its coverage of the Rick Chow trial. They've done some perfunctory reporting on the cases, but nothing like what one would have expected based on their coverage of other racially charged trials. This was clearly a conscious decision. Perhaps they now regret their role in stirring the pot in those previous cases. Seems like a very good sign.

For those complaining about the quality of Karmelo Anthony's legal defense, is there any reason why no black attorneys offered their legal services to the family pro bono?

Karmelo Anthony was found guilty of murder today. A teenager who will likely lose his freedom for decades. Austin Metcalf already lost his. We raise black boys to perform toughness, to harden their faces around white people, especially. We tell ourselves we are preparing them for a hostile world. We are handing them a script that ends in a courtroom or a casket. I know, because that script was handed to me. We have to stop doing this to our sons. virgilwalker.substack.com/p/…

The coverage of the verdict in the Karmelo Anthony case, and the reaction to it on this site, is so discouraging that I can't bear to watch it. I can only hope that what I'm seeing is not representative of public sentiment generally. If it is, our republic is effing doomed.

Both white people and black people are capable of being racist. Black folks have assuredly been wrongly convicted by racist white juries. Racist black juries have refused to convict black defendants whose guilt has been established beyond a reasonable doubt. (No, the O.J. jury isn't an example). The intelligent thing to do is to: (1) take each case on its own merits; (2) avoid jumping to conclusion before all of the evidence is in; and (3) actually look at the evidence before making pronouncements about a verdict. Based on what I've seen about the Rick Chow and Karmelo Anthony cases over the past couple of days, there appears to be little chance that most people on this site will follow these principles.
Potential jurors also said they couldnt imagine "putting a brother in jail." As a society we need to face the reality that racial bias/solidarity is widespread in our juries, just not in the way they depict on Law & Order

Whatever your politics or your view of him personally, it's hard to deny that Rubio is putting on a clinic in this hearing. On a purely political level (in every sense of "political"), he's shown remarkable skill as Secretary of State. It's amazing to think that this is the same guy whom Trump humiliated during the GOP primaries in 2015. I think he's actually going to pull off being the nominee in 2028. His career over the course of the past ten years contains all sorts of lessons.
Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA): “You will see that [President Trump] was sleeping while you were talking.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio: “Oh my God…” *Laughs* Ted Lieu: “Have you been at more than one meeting where President Trump has fallen asleep.” Marco Rubio: “That’s false. That’s false. I’ve never seen him fall asleep. On the contrary, the guy doesn’t sleep, which is a big problem because he calls me at 2 in the morning. He calls me at 5 in the morning. I like to sleep a little bit…” Ted Lieu: “You’re lying to Congress, Secretary Rubio.”

These videos can occasionally be amusing, but this clip is deeply sad and disturbing. The poor kids witnessing this sh*tshow are completely traumatized by it. God only knows what other awful behavior they have been/will be exposed to and how it will affect them as they become adults. Maybe that's what happened to the women fighting in this video themselves and explains how they turned out like this. What an absolute morass.
Whenever this happens I like to immediately begin eating as much of their food on the table as possible.

I don't know who this brilliant young man is, but he's managed to do something that I'd almost come to believe was impossible: he's given me hope for the future. God bless him. Our country desperately needs more young people like this.
“You can give every low-income black American a $50,000 ‘reparations’ check—and it’s not going to fix anything. It’s not going to increase the median household income in ten years. We had the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882—basically put them under apartheid here in the United States. Yet they now have the highest median household income. How is that possible? How come they don’t complain and feel consistently entitled to demand reparations?”

Given the obsession that so many of our culture-producing institutions have with touting their commitment to diversity and their antiracist bona fides, I can only imagine how toxic Attiah must have been for the WaPo to finally fire her, especially knowing that she'd make a very public stink about it and do everything in her power to cast herself as a victim as racism. (I suspect, however, that the Post couldn't have envisioned anything as over-the-top as the melodramatic, self-indulgent image in her tweet below). Attiah's own blatant racism was the sole reason I canceled my subscription to the Post many years ago. Her infamous tweet about how white "Karens" should be thankful black women weren't seeking revenge against them was so unhinged that I still have trouble believing she posted it in earnest. Nor was that her only race-baiting tweet. Yet not only did the Post decline to discipline her at the time, it promoted her. I don't like to see anyone get fired, but the truth is that Attiah should have been shown the door well before her tone-deaf and inaccurate tweet about Charlie Kirk following his murder. I sincerely hope that she prospers in the future, but unless she undergoes a change of personality and outlook on the order of a religious conversion, she should never write for a media outlet like the Post ever again.
Some News: After 11 years at the Washington Post, I was fired in the aftermath of the Charlie Kirk killing. This week, I'm fighting back. My case heads to arbitration on Thursday. More here: open.substack.com/pub/karena…

Fie on the person who started this trend of people recording themselves crying in their vehicles over imaginary dangers, slights, and injustices. If there were an award that represented the polar opposite of the Nobel Peace Prize, that person would deserve it.
Black woman in Atlanta cries her eyes out, complaining that the city is so “segregated” she has to cross to the “white side” to see a doctor. Reality check: Atlanta is led by a black mayor, black residents are the largest population group in the city (~47% black vs. 40% white), and is literally the Black Mecca, home to more black millionaires, celebrities, and success stories than anywhere else in America. If your own majority city feels “segregated,” maybe the problem isn’t the map.

Hey Tim, I’m happy to be an ally on free speech issues. But I literally wrote a book about cancel culture, and I’m not going to participate in the collective amnesia surrounding what happened between 2014 and 2024. We can debate causes, consequences, scope, and definitions. What we can’t honestly do is pretend it never happened. a.co/d/0byOvETN

I have mixed feelings about this statement, but ultimately, with all due respect to the Aceman, it seems fine to me, even admirable. Although it's not great to see teammates criticizing one another's politics, Carter makes a point at the end to say very clearly that there's no beef between them and that they're part of the same team. This is actually what we should strive for in our politics generally. We should be able to criticize one another, even harshly at times, while viewing ourselves as part of the same project, aiming at a common goal.
