Precisely! Recovering people on social media are a unique breed. Instead of chasing attention, we're (hopefully) seeking *connection.* Connection, so that when tough times come, we won't be stuck alone in the messes we were before. We are all miracles, each one. #RecoveryPosse
I can't stand when people who are new here act like all of this is some competition with likes or follows or hashtags or whatever it might be. This is literally just a community of ppl who are alive when they probably shouldn't be, looking to connect & encourage others That's it.

When ppl ask abt estrangement, how I cope or got to this point, I try to keep it simple by framing it in black & white. My mother lives in a motel. My brother on the streets. As a person who tries to stay focused on breaking cycles, I HAVE to preserve my bandwidth for: MY FAMILY.

Six months clean and sober today. The photo on the left was taken years ago after I woke up from an overdose in my apartment. I was housed. I had a roof over my head. But I was still addicted to heroin and methamphetamine, and I was still overdosing. When I look at that photo now, I feel sadness. I see someone who was suffering. Someone who wanted a different life but couldn’t seem to stop doing the very things that were destroying her. The photo on the right was taken recently while speaking publicly about my journey & recovery. Today, I am six months clean and sober from absolutely everything. The biggest change isn’t what you can see in these photos. It’s that I genuinely care about myself today. The woman on the left survived. The woman on the right is finally living.

I believe you: you've tried, hard, to feel & function better in the past. The fact that hasn't 100% worked isn't actually on you, or a sign you "can't" recover from trauma. You haven't hit on the right tools, skills, & philosophies yet. No more, no less. No shame. Don't give up.

The hypervigilance experienced by CPTSD survivors often doesn't revolve around sensory cues (though abuse survivors can experience plenty of that)-- it's often centered on the "vibe" of an interaction or a person's "energy."

Whatever your goal is, adding alcohol/drugs to the mix won’t help you get there. Whatever your goal is, removing alcohol and drugs could very well be the first step in achieving it. Take a deep breath, and love yourself enough to find out! #RecoveryPosse
Fuck being drunk today. Time to get that first mil.

So the last day, or the last hour, was an emotional or behavioral sh*t show. That happens. Trauma Brain is going to try to tell you today is f*cked & you're f*cked-- but that's bullsh*t. Breathe; blink; focus; remind yourself of who you are & what you're all about-- & reset.

One day I was drunk -- and had been most of my adult life -- then the next day I stayed sober and have been ever since (9 years ) I don't say this to say it was easy, it wasn't -- I tried many times, but to highlight how dramatically your life can change if you don't give up.

Advocacy is a marathon, not a sprint. We can’t show up for our community if we don’t show up for ourselves first. This weekend, remember that rest is a vital part of the recovery journey. Take time to recharge and come back stronger. #RecoveryAdvocacy

30 days without a drink! ODAAT! Quitting this time feels different. I now have a much clearer understanding that I CANNOT have just one! Anxiety has decreased so much! The thought of what just one drink would due to my anxiety is enough to keep me sober @RecoveryPosse

Awesome accomplishment! Even spectacular when I consider how long you've been struggling to reach this milestone. Keep coming back! It works when we work it! ❤️👣👣
