I am proud to have worked with them and so many other outstanding community organizations to build a triage clinic that has resulted in the release of 44 New Yorkers from ICE detention.

First, @SecKennedy refused to pay the legal non-profits representing unaccompanied minors for work they did per a contract. Now, @SecMullinDHS is sending federal agents to ambush their offices and demand confidential client records without a warrant. This is disgusting intimidation and a massive waste of time, resources, and money. The cruelty of this administration targeting the most vulnerable along us is repulsive and un-American.

A $1 million-per-person fundraiser for Trump’s super PAC on Saturday and a UFC match on White House grounds on Sunday? No one is that naive. This President is honoring America’s 250th by degrading the office into a cash grab for himself and his allies. Nothing celebrates democracy better than Trump selling access and influence to the highest bidder.

.@GovKathyHochul was entirely right to end the 287(g) agreements because our local criminal law enforcement does not exist to serve as an extension of ICE’s lawless civil immigration dragnet. Let’s be clear: New York turns over to ICE immigrants who have completed their criminal sentences. But ICE wants New York to use our limited criminal law enforcement officers to help them round up immigrants who have committed no crimes.  If @RealTomHoman follows through with this desperate federal overreach, my office and our coalition will be on the ground every day to fight back. New Yorkers will not be intimidated.

Ten years have passed since the heartbreaking mass shooting at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, where 49 lives were stolen and 53 were wounded in an act of pure hate and bigotry. Every year that has passed is another reminder that we cannot allow weapons of war to tear these gaping holes in our communities. And it’s a further reminder that we must reject hate of all kinds because it never stops at one group. This Pride Month, we recommit our efforts to defeat this hate, protect our LGBTQIA friends and neighbors, pass common-sense gun safety laws, and work to build stronger, more peaceful communities.

By passing this extreme $70B immigration bill, @HouseGOP caved to Trump yet again. In the last year and a half alone, Republicans have unilaterally given Trump’s lawless DHS nearly a quarter TRILLION dollars with no restrictions, guardrails or oversight. @HouseDemocrats asked for basic safeguards to ensure transparency, oversight, and accountability of ICE’s inhumane, lawless actions. Yet the GOP chose loyalty to Trump over responsibility to the American people. Because that’s what they always do.

Trump’s temper tantrum when pressed for evidence of his baseless allegations is the classic behavior of a guilty defendant who withers under basic cross-examination. His entire platform is built on conspiracy theories that disintegrate the moment he is challenged to provide proof.  What was so telling was the rage Trump showed when a journalist did not cower from his bullying. Trump operates like a mob boss using threats, fear and intimidation, but when you stand up to bullies, they can’t handle it.  That’s how you beat Donald Trump.

The Administration tried to impose a staggering $100K fee on H-1B visas, essentially taxing the very hospitals, universities, and small businesses that rely on specialized talent to fill critical shortages and harming our local economies. And once again, a federal court had to remind the Trump admin how our Constitution works. @realdonaldtrump: if you want to change the law, you have to go through Congress.

DOGE’s weaponization of the Social Security Administration is a staggering abuse of government power that demands investigation. The Trump admin is so disgustingly hellbent to advance its anti-immigrant agenda that it planned to falsely declare 2.7M living immigrants, permanent residents, and citizens as dead just to cut off their wages and banking. Can @elonmusk explain how mass identity fraud is “efficient?”

The American people don’t care whether @RealTomHoman enjoyed his lunch. What matters is whether people who are lawfully here yet still detained by our government have access to adequate medical care, safe living conditions, and basic human dignity – and they do not at Delaney Hall. @DHSgov must release anyone with a lawful immigration application who has no criminal record.

.@HouseGOP just blocked my commonsense amendments to require DHS officials to identify themselves and protect due process. If Republicans are pouring billions more into ICE and CBP over Democrats’ objections, the bare minimum requirement should be basic transparency. My amendments simply required DHS agents to visibly display credentials during operations and banned lawless courthouse arrests. But as usual, Republicans voted to shield federal overreach from the law.

UPDATE: I was honored to erase from our triage clinic’s white board the 42nd detainee released and reunited with his family — a young man I met when I visited Delaney Hall two weeks ago.  As the Trump administration weaponizes immigration courts and expedites cases without regard to due process, our district triage center is holding the line to stand up for the rule of law and human dignity. Thank you to my dedicated staff and our relentless partners who refuse to let our immigrant communities face this terror alone.

While the detention center at 26 Federal Plaza is largely back to operating as a processing facility, across the street at 290 Broadway, mega master hearings are proceeding with over 500 immigration cases on the docket today alone. It is no secret that our immigration court system has been weaponized by Trump to target our immigrant neighbors. When @HouseDemocrats retake control, we must pass my bill to create an independent immigration court that is no longer at the mercy of whoever is in the White House. I will continue my weekly oversight visits to make sure federal agencies follow both the law and court orders.

.@DAGToddBlanche is saying it plainly: he is not interested in protecting American’s rights or upholding the rule of law. His only priority is protecting the President and his cronies – including building legal and financial escape hatches for them. What happened to “law and order,” @HouseGOP?

The people harmed by this xenophobic and racist policy weren’t those trying to cheat the system. They were the people who followed every rule, submitted every document, and paid every fee they were required to. Judge McConnell’s ruling is an important reminder that @DHSgov and @SecMullinDHS seem to always forget: the government cannot simply pick and choose which laws it gets to enforce just because they want to force their own discriminatory political agendas.

I am praying for the victims of last night's horrific knife attack at Penn Station, and I am incredibly grateful to the Amtrak Police for their swift response. Tragedies like this are exactly why I introduced the bipartisan Michelle Go Act. We must expand access to psychiatric care for those who cannot otherwise afford it so that individuals suffering from severe mental illness get treatment before tragedy strikes. It's time for Congress to pass it.
