Yesterday, I met with members of the International Fresh Produce Association @IntFreshProduce to discuss the importance of the Farm Bill, workforce challenges, and increasing fresh produce consumption. It was great to have a productive conversation with local CA-21 leaders Rachel Bigby of Frutura and Malie Frelinger of Fowler Packing to hear firsthand about the opportunities and challenges facing our fresh produce industry.

It’s plain and simple: farmers across CA-21 and throughout the country need certainty in the marketplace—not chaos. At a time when farm bankruptcies are rising, we need to stay focused on ensuring reliable markets for our farmers and producers.

Sixty-three years ago today, the Equal Pay Act was signed into law, marking a major step forward in the fight for fairness in the workplace. This landmark legislation made it illegal for employers to pay men and women different wages for equal work requiring equal skill, effort, and responsibility, performed under similar working conditions. As we mark this anniversary, we recognize the progress that has been made and reaffirm our commitment to closing the wage gap and advancing economic equality for all.

Today, as a senior member of the House Agriculture Committee, I pushed for a stronger USMCA for American farmers.  During the hearing, I stressed the importance of maintaining strong trade relationships with Canada and Mexico, highlighted the challenges facing farmers in the Valley, and raised concerns about food safety standards and market certainty for American producers.  Watch the full hearing below ⤵️  youtu.be/BiyE-9zcw8I

Today, I met with the National Milk Producers Federation @nmpf to discuss issues important to the Central Valley’s dairy industry, including school nutrition and accurate labeling of imitation dairy products. Our dairy farmers help feed the nation and drive our local economy. I look forward to continuing to work with industry leaders to support our dairy farmers and strengthen the communities they sustain.

We support efforts to reach a negotiated agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and help ease costs driven by the conflict with Iran. But what’s being described still does not reflect the durable peace the President has outlined—it remains elusive. We need a real ceasefire and lasting peace that brings down costs for families and farmers, especially fuel and fertilizer.

June 10 is Portugal Day, and today, alongside @RepDavidValadao , I introduced a resolution in Congress to officially commemorate it. 🇵🇹 More than 1.3 million Portuguese Americans call this country home. Their contributions deserve recognition, and their heritage deserves to be celebrated. #DayOfPortugal #PortugueseAmerican

While families in the San Joaquin Valley struggle to afford groceries, gas, and health care, Republicans passed another reckless spending bill with no help for working families, no guardrails on ICE, just $70 billion with no oversight while Trump keeps a $1.8 billion slush fund for criminals. That's why I voted NO.
Breaking News: The House approved $70 billion to fund President Trump’s deportation crackdown, sending the measure to the president’s desk. nyti.ms/4uoj8sE

Today, I met with the Olive Oil Commission of California to discuss glassy-winged sharpshooters, crop insurance for specialty crops, and concerns with the proposed Olive Oil Research and Promotion Board. California producers deserve strong standards, fair representation, and a framework that strengthens our olive oil growers.

Proud to deliver $7 million for California growers. My amendment to the FY27 Agriculture Appropriations Bill was adopted on the House floor, directing $7 million to USDA APHIS to fight the Glassy-Winged Sharpshooter infestation threatening our grapevines, citrus, and almonds. This funding will support efforts to contain the infestation and protect some of California's most valuable specialty crops.

82 years ago, thousands of brave soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy to defend the freedoms we hold dear. On D-Day, we honor the courage, service, and sacrifice of these American patriots and remember the enduring responsibility we share to protect democracy for future generations.

Today, we #WearOrange to honor the lives lost to gun violence and stand with the families, survivors, and communities forever changed by it. No family should have to endure the pain of losing a loved one to senseless violence. We must continue working together to keep our communities safe and build a future free from gun violence.

As our nation prepares to mark 250 years of American history, we are reminded of the values that have shaped our country: service, sacrifice, opportunity, and a commitment to a more perfect union. I applaud Mayor Jerry Dyer and the City of Fresno for commemorating this milestone by placing 1,000 American flags throughout the city. It's an opportunity to reflect on our shared history, honor those who have served our nation, and look ahead to the future we are building for the next generation. 🇺🇸 yourcentralvalley.com/news/l…
