I'd like to congratulate my friend and newest member of Congress, Rep. James Gallagher, on his official swearing-in. Excited to see you carry on the late Congressman Doug LaMalfa's legacy and serve CA-01 well.

I just met with local representatives from @nmpf to discuss dairy production in the Central Valley. We spoke about the benefits of nutritious dairy products in schools and the importance of proper labeling on imitation dairy products. As the sole dairyman in Congress, these are topics I understand firsthand, and I look forward to continuing to my work to support our dairy farmers in Congress.

As a proud Portuguese American and co-chair of the Congressional Portuguese Caucus, I’m honored to join @RepJimCosta to reintroduce a resolution officially  recognizing June 10th as Day of Portugal, Camões, and the Portuguese Communities (Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas). The Central Valley is home to a strong Portuguese American community whose values, traditions, and work ethic have helped shaped our region for generations. As we honor the life and legacy of Luís de Camões, we also celebrate the countless contributions Portuguese communities continue to make in the Central Valley and across the nation. Golden mussels pose a serious and growing threat to California's water supply, environment, and agricultural infrastructure due to their aggressive reproduction and ability to clog pipes and jam pumps. That's why I joined @RepVinceFong, @RepJimCosta, and @RepJoshHarder in sending a letter to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service urging the agency to take immediate action to contain this threat. We can't afford to let this invasive species spread further and jeopardize the systems our families, farmers, and communities rely on, and I'll continue working to prevent long-term damage to the Central Valley's water infrastructure. In the Central Valley, we’ve seen firsthand the devastating impact of the opioid epidemic. Too often, people seeking treatment in our communities face long travel times, high transportation costs, and difficulty receiving timely care. We should be doing everything we can to make it easier for people suffering from substance use disorder to get the help they need and break the cycle of addiction, which is why I joined @RepBonamici and @RepDonBacon to reintroduce the CHIERS Act. This bipartisan bill would create a grant program to provide transportation for people in need of overdose prevention services, substance use disorder treatment, detoxification, and other related supportive services. I had a great meeting with the Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo to discuss the importance of its Migrant and Seasonal Head Start program, which provides free early childhood education, health services, and family support to the children of agricultural workers in Delano, Lamont, Arvin, and Wasco. Head Start plays a vital role in preparing children for lifelong success by giving them a strong foundation during their earliest years. I look forward to continuing our partnership to ensure Central Valley families have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

82 years ago today, 133,000 brave Allied soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy to liberate the European continent from Nazi control. Today, join me in honoring their bravery and sacrifice in the fight to protect freedom and democracy.

To kick off National Dairy Month, I visited @HouseAgGOP Chairman @CongressmanGT to deliver a Central Valley favorite—flavored milk. As the only dairyman in Congress, I'll never miss an opportunity to share a taste of the Central Valley with my friends in Washington.

As you enjoy milk, butter, ice cream, and other dairy products this month, it's important to take a moment to thank the hardworking dairy producers who make it all possible. It was great to raise a glass of root beer flavored milk and celebrate our Central Valley dairy farmers together!

As co-chair of the American Sikh Congressional Caucus, I was proud to join the American Sikh Caucus Committee to reflect on the tragedy of 1984. One of America's founding pillars is the belief that every person is granted the freedom to practice their chosen faith without fear, but unfortunately, Sikhs continue to face harassment, discrimination, persecution, and violence. Leaders at every level of government have a responsibility to condemn transnational repression, and I remain committed to continuing to protect the rights and dignity of Sikh-Americans in the Central Valley and across the nation.

Welcoming a child into your family is one of the most meaningful moments in life, and as a dad, I understand both the joy and responsibility that comes with it. At a time when so many young families are facing higher financial burdens, we should be making it easier—not harder—to raise children and build a future. That's why I was proud to introduce the Supporting Newborn Parents Act, which puts money back into the pockets of hardworking families so parents can focus on raising their newborn instead of worrying about making ends meet. Thank you @SecRollins for taking the time to engage with Central Valley agricultural leaders. Our farmers, ranchers, and producers are facing rising input costs, workforce shortages, burdensome regulations, and the need for a stronger specialty crop safety net, and this conversation reinforced the importance of continued collaboration. I look forward to continuing to work with USDA on commonsense policies that support Central Valley agriculture and give producers the certainty they need to plan for the future.
California agriculture helps feed America and the world — and today we saw that firsthand at the incredible Allied Potato in Bakersfield, California. 🇺🇸🥔      Alongside one of Congress’ greatest advocates, @RepDavidValadao, I toured the operation, met with farmers and industry leaders, and announced new @USDA support for specialty crop producers.      From potatoes and dairy, nuts, and fresh produce, California growers are critical to our nation's food supply. USDA is committed to ensuring they have the tools, markets, and support they need to succeed.

Wildfires continue to threaten lives, homes, and critical infrastructure across California, and it's essential we remain prepared. That's why I'm proud to reaffirm my support for designating the month of May as National Wildfire Preparedness Month. This will help raise awareness about the dangers wildfires pose, recognize the dedication and sacrifice of our first responders, and encourage communities to take proactive steps to protect themselves before disaster strikes.

All veterans deserve to receive a military burial and recognition for their service to our nation. Unfortunately, when a deceased veteran has lost contact with their family—or has no next-of-kin at all—their unclaimed remains can sit on a funeral home shelf collecting dust for years. Ahead of Memorial Day, I'm proud to introduce the Locating Our Unclaimed Veterans Act to create a centralized system that helps Department of Veterans Affairs identify any unclaimed remains and ensure these veterans are laid to rest with the dignity, respect, and military honors they deserve. After months of hard work preparing the Fiscal Year 2027 Legislative Branch Appropriations Act as Subcommittee Chairman, I'm proud to see it advance out of full committee markup. This bill ensures Congress has the resources necessary to effectively serve the American people while also reducing unnecessary spending and refocusing our priorities on core responsibilities. I'm grateful to @HouseAppropsGOP Chairman @TomColeOK04 for his leadership and guidance throughout this process, and I appreciate the hard work of my subcommittee colleagues. I look forward to building on this momentum as the bill moves through the legislative process. Read more: valadao.house.gov/news/docum…

For years, the Tulare Skate Park and the historic Tulare Women’s Club have been important community spaces, but outdated ownership restrictions have prevented the City from making long-overdue improvements. That’s why I’m proud to introduce the Tulare Youth Recreation and Women’s History Enhancement Act alongside @RepVinceFong, which would authorize the sale of two parcels of lands from Union Pacific Railroad to Tulare County to restore the City Skate Park and historic Tulare Women’s Club. I appreciate Union Pacific’s partnership in helping move this solution forward, and I look forward to seeing these sites continue to serve Tulare families and preserve the community’s history for years to come. It was an honor to host representatives from the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service for a detector dog demonstration. Detector dogs like Freddie and Gonzo are specially trained to identify prohibited agricultural products hidden in luggage and cargo before they enter the United States. Their work helps protect American agriculture by preventing the spread of invasive insects, parasites, and plant diseases—including threats like New World screwworm. Thank you, Beagle Brigade!
