Republicans voted this week to hand ICE and CBP an additional $70 billion — and still refused to guarantee even the most basic standards of humane treatment for the people in their custody. No child, no senior, no one should be forced to spend days in a cramped holding cell that was designed for only a few hours of temporary processing. That's why I'm introducing legislation to ban extended long-term detention in these facilities. If we fail to uphold that basic dignity and decency, then we have lost ourselves as a country.

Trump's "Anti-Weaponization Fund" may have been used to compensate January 6 defendants and election deniers — including Colorado's own Tina Peters. He claims it's shut down, but he also said he wasn't sure if it was gone forever. Ten years ago, 49 innocent people were murdered by a hateful bigot at Pulse Nightclub. My heart is with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire LGBTQ community. This tragedy should never have happened, and those people should still be here today. And dangerous rhetoric and extremist attacks continue to fuel hatred, violence, and discrimination against LGBTQ Americans. We must confront hate wherever we see it and continue the fight to end gun violence.

I voted no on FISA today. This policy was supposed to be an intelligence tool to keep us safe from foreign terrorists, but it has been expanded far beyond that without proper guardrails. At a time when the Administration is using our government to go after American citizens and settle the president’s political scores, the risk could not be greater. We should be undertaking real reforms that protect Americans’ rights & privacy. But this bill has none of that. The last thing we need is this unhinged president surveilling private citizens without accountability.

The Forest Service is reorganizing in the middle of wildfire season, after massive staff cuts. Colorado is experiencing one of the worst droughts on record. This fire season is going to be dangerous for so many across our state. @SecRollins needs to answer for why this is happening now and how our communities will get the support they need this summer.

Trump's personal criminal defense lawyer is now his nominee for Attorney General. Todd Blanche signed off on a $1.8 billion slush fund for Trump's allies. He mishandled the Epstein files. He signed a document granting Trump immunity from all existing tax audits. The Attorney General is supposed to be the people's lawyer, but his career has always been about protecting one person, and that person is not you.

Trump promised this war would be over in weeks. We just hit day 100. Now families are struggling to fill up our tanks and grocery carts and keep up with utility bills. Everything costs more now, and Trump isn't doing anything about it. We didn't start this war. We shouldn't be the ones footing the bill for it.

Every single one of Colorado's 64 counties is in drought, bringing an exponential wildfire risk and devastating impacts to our economy. Meanwhile, Trump continues to gut funding for wildfire mitigation & recovery, and investments in the critical water projects we need to thrive. It's going to be a difficult year ahead, but our office is here to support our communities and fight to protect the state we love.

While Colorado families were sleeping, Senate Republicans passed a bill that gives $70 billion to ICE with no protections and no guardrails. And Trump's slush fund? Not a single protection. Nothing to stop him from handing taxpayer-funded checks to insurrectionists — while giving ICE and CBP billions to continue terrorizing immigrant communities & ripping families apart. This is what unchecked power looks like.

Ukraine isn't just fighting for Ukraine. They're fighting against Russian aggression that threatens democracy there, all over Europe, and even here. We have bipartisan support in the House and the Senate. That's why we forced a vote on legislation that would support Ukraine's fight to defend their freedom. We're not in power, but we're not powerless.

At a time when families are already struggling to afford groceries, Republicans are taking food away from moms, babies, and children Instead of doing anything that would actually help— like supporting my amendment to protect the programs that our most vulnerable families depend on— this bill completely rips the rug out from under them. This is just another example of their backward agenda that consistently puts the American people last.

I'm utterly horrified that a group of students in Boulder justified the deadly firebombing attack last year that targeted the Jewish community and encouraged others to follow the murderer's "act of resistance." Anti-Semitic rhetoric like this continues to put the Jewish community at risk and paves the way for exactly the kind of hate-fueled violence we witnessed that day. This behavior is a disgrace and should be denounced by every Coloradan and American. This is not who we are.

ICE is already the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency in our nation — but Trump & Republicans want to write them another blank check with no oversight. The American people overwhelmingly agree that ICE is out of control: ripping families apart and hurting and killing citizens with impunity. We cannot give another dime to an out-of-control agency that doesn't make us any safer.
