To his staff, colleagues, friends, and even perfect strangers, he was family. He served and cared for everyone like they were his own.
He dedicated his life to service in the belief that the worth of every soul is great in the sight of God.

We thank him for his service, to Elaine and the Hatch family for sustaining him all these years, and the great people of Utah for making the right choice on an outsider from Pittsburgh so many years ago.

Orrin Hatch was a valued colleague and a dear friend. When I was a new Senator, Orrin asked me to work with him on the Children’s Health Insurance Program, which has since provided health care for millions of children in low-income families.

The first time I met Sen. Hatch, it was at a fundraising luncheon he was hosting for my boss, first-term Sen. McConnell. I was a junior staffer, but Hatch made a point of introducing himself to me, seating me at the table and noting my presence to the group. I never forgot it. 🙏

Saddened to hear of the passing of Senator Orrin Hatch. He was a dedicated public servant who spent more than 40 years bettering the lives of people in Utah and across the country. Mikey and I are keeping his loved ones in our prayers.

After we had our first baby, we brought her by the @NRSC where my wife was working. Senator Hatch came out of his way to see her, & said, “when you have 1 that beautiful, you need to have 8 or 9 more.”

Heartbroken to hear of the passing of Senator Orrin Hatch. He was a good man & a patriotic voice in the United States Senate that helped our country live up to the ideals set forth by our Founding Fathers. Cindy and I are praying for his family & friends in this difficult time.

Senator Orrin Hatch was an exceptional statesman and true freedom fighter. I enjoyed working with him on intellectual property issues to protect our creative communities — like the Music Modernization Act, which would not have been possible without his leadership.
