To follow God and gain the wisdom that comes from Him will require you to look like a fool to the entire world.

Those who believe in “original sin” often point to Psalm 51 as a prooftext for this unbiblical idea. Putting aside the fact that Psalm 51:5 speaks more of David’s mother than David himself, we can also see that pointing to one’s infancy is how ancient poetry says “all my life.”

Every time someone tries to say that baptism isn’t required for salvation, “only faith in Christ alone,” I always ask: Is repentance from sins required for salvation? Can someone be saved if they never repent of their sins? They never choose to answer this one. You know why.

Daily reminder that Gods hates both pride (Proverbs 8:13) and homosexuality (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Make this the month of repentance so that you can enjoy God’s graciousness and love.

Every man should make it his goal to have a group of men that you could call at a moment’s notice to help you in a crisis. Probably it won’t be for a kidnapping, but crises still come (floods, fires, sewage backup, job loss). Make it a point to be one of these men as well.

You never see households baptized for being households. You see households being baptized for each and every member being believers. Only believers in the preached word are baptized in scripture- not infants.

I wish God would appear to me when I sit outside on a hot day, like He did for Abraham. Usually I just get visited by horseflies.

We find out in Hebrews that part of the reason Abraham was so willing to trust God is that he figured God could raise people from the dead. What’s interesting is: God never told him that He could do that, and it had not occurred yet in history. But Abraham’s understanding of God was that God could do anything, even the impossible, even things he’s never heard of before. Do you have a similar understanding of God? Do you truly believe God can do anything, even the impossible, even things you’ve never heard of before?

Sunset meditation is something we see in the Bible and probably something we should do more of. God seeks us out in the quiet moments.

If you are a Christian, YOU are who God was talking about when He made His promises to Abraham in Genesis. Have you ever considered how wonderful that is?

If you struggle with truly believing that God will help you when you pray, try doing what Jacob did and remind yourself of specific promises of God when you pray. Doing this requires that you learn Scripture, which is a secondary benefit.

The presence of faithful believers brings blessings to everyone around them. This was true in the time of Joseph, and this is still true today.

You’re never too far gone, you can always come back to God.
