In plant lipid community, we don’t say “hejdå/goodbye/再见”. We say“Vi ses/so long/再会”. Great to have @ecahoon2 @JohnathanNapie1 visit Skåne where oilseed plants are one of the icons inspiring generations of farmers, researchers and innovators.

These questions have been asked by literature for thousands of years, and continue to be asked today.” This year’s literature laureate Han Kang spoke about how language connects us all in her Nobel Prize banquet speech this evening.

The 2024 Nobel Prize banquet dessert is a homage to Swedish apples. Pastry chef Frida Bäcke has used a variety of Swedish apples to create the ultimate dessert. A terrine of caramelised Frida apples has been combined with a brown butter cake made from tiger nuts, a cream of quince fruit and thinly sliced apples with chamomile. Ice cream made with pineappleweed and punsch liqueur tops it all off. Take a look at how Frida plates the dessert to perfection.

What’s described on Wikipedia about what Trofim Lysenko did to Nikolai Vavilov reminds me of what Lewis Strauss did to Oppenheimer—two tragic instances of politics stifling science and destroying brilliant minds.
