The EU and the UK are accelerating the largest European military budget increase in 80 years.
By 2030, European defence spending is projected to reach around €800bn, roughly 2.5x China’s current military spending and more than 4x Russia’s.
Europe is becoming the largest military power in Eurasia.
Germany, Poland, France, Italy, the Nordics, the Baltics and the UK are all expanding budgets, procurement, ammunition production, air defence, drones, cyber, space and industrial capacity.
EU defence spending already reached €343bn in 2024 and €381bn in 2025, up 63% since 2020.
