The use of a person's credit score to price homeowner's insurance is a major problem. In many states, a person's credit score has a bigger influence on their premium than the physical risk of damage to the home. nytimes.com/interactive/2026…

This is the root of an "insurability crisis." As risks increase, a growing portion of our built environment is becoming uninsurable. The warning signs include: - Rising damages - Rising insurance prices - Rising #'s of uninsured homes - Rising enrollment in FAIR Plans

The Super Bowl ad from State Farm may not land well
Cute ad campaign. I bet the 72,000 policyholders State Farm dropped in California appreciate the laugh.

A monster in the Grand Canyon, The Dragon Bravo Fire. 3% RH… thanks to the subscriber who shared this insane photo of the fire activity this evening.
The current view of the Dragon Bravo Fire in the Grand Canyon. An absolute monster of a column. The Fire’s containment has been reduced to 13% and was last mapped at 44,500 acres, likely to see 50,000 by tomorrow. The fire area has seen 4 consecutive days of critical Fire weather and continues to grow in the Saddle Mountain Wilderness Area and Milk Drainage with 1 mile spotting. Southwest Team 2 will take command of the fire tomorrow from Southwest Team 4, with total personnel now nearly 1,100 firefighters. Thanks to the subscribers who shared these views of Fire activity today.

Today @NRDC filed comments with the administration, detailing how their actions have unraveled the nation's disaster safety net and set back climate resilience efforts @FEMA and so many other agencies. Their actions are degrading federal emergency management capacity, and state and local gov'ts. nrdc.org/bio/rob-moore/fema-…

Acting head of FEMA rightly says ā€œI do not believe it is in the best interest of the American people to eliminate the Federal Emergency Management Agency" and is promptly fired.
