I was really rooting for Intel to finally get its act together and manufacture a reasonably competitive GPUs. Even though the Xe graphics architecture was a bit entry level, it at least seemed a nominal success. When Intel got AMD's Raja Koduri as the new GFX guy - I had hopes
Well Raja's out now ow.ly/H9cH50NEjlB Intel never seems able to spend more than a few years attempting to break into the GPU market. This is their third time and I don't have my hopes up for this one either. That and they are shutting down the Intel shuttle service ☹️
Wow - Epic is really going to revolutionize the way that MoCap data is captured/processed. See their MetaHuman/Real-Time Facial Animation Demo from their GDC presentation: This will really streamline things youtu.be/pnaKyc3mQVk
Those historical, last-ditch we-are-losing weapons, full of hope and desperation, were always amazing. Always loved the Nebelwerfer. Battlefield introduced me to the Fliegerfaust. But today I learned about the Einstossflammenwerfer 46.... Holy Hell!
I've watched a number of companies go off to design their own XR headsets - only to realize that it's a *really* challenging effort. There's a reason a lot of companies go for Qualcomm's XR chipset - not to mention that it comes with it's own OpenXR software stack and SDK.
Apple Delays AR Glasses, Plans Cheaper Mixed-Reality Headset - yes it's challenging - but given their track record I expect them to make a good go at it.

It’s amazing what you can do with the right team 😊😊😊 shoutout to the @Snapdragon Spaces Technical Dev Rel & Studios teams for their support this weekend at @mitrealityhack
Thank you for the feedback Maryam!
Say goodbye to conference rooms. We studied 100s of people in small groups over months in 192 panoramic or closed worlds. Large, open spaces improved nonverbal behavior, restorativeness and group cohesion.
In VR space is free (and beneficial).

There is a class of people who don’t think AR glasses should give you superpowers of vision and hearing because it brings up “privacy issues”. The companies that take that position are going to lose.
AirPods Pro now give you superhuman hearing via transparency mode. The trick is they put these options under accessibility settings.
Next year I expect this to happen with eyes instead of ears, via the accessibility settings of the AR visor.
Interesting article on "Identifying Users by Their Hand Tracking Data in Augmented and Virtual Reality" had a small sample size but 95% accurate. Be interesting to see how this folds into other privacy concerns like eye and mouth (yes fer real) tracking ow.ly/JZU750Lb0F5
Disney Patents Virtual World Simulator that doesn’t require an HMD. But it seems pretty darn similar to the CAVE tech Carolina Cruz-Neira @cnntweet et. al. invented in '92. ow.ly/Ie9x50HoJfM

METAVERSE STRATEGY PRO-TIP
Don’t put it all in one place. It’s tempting, because visitors can be wowed by it, but the risks outweigh the benefits. Instead, put some here and there.
Subtlety wins.
We want to give developers the tools they need to unleash their highest potential and creativity so users can get the most out of their headworn #AR experiences.
#ICYMI, we just introduced #Snapdragon Spaces. For developers, it means getting the chance to create ultra-adaptable headworn #AR experiences. For users, it means extremely immersive gaming and productivity thanks to features like occlusion. Learn more: bit.ly/3C1mNBv
I'm very excited that we can finally talk about @Qualcomm's Snapdragon Spaces @ #AWE2021. It's one of the projects I've been working on and I'm quite proud that it's focused on not only building up the infrastructure of the Metaverse but also focusing on enabling content creators
While you can have all the fancy tech you want, if you don't have something compelling, no one will care. Enabling independent content creators with HMD agnostic capabilities enriches the entire Metaverse.
