Moderate to intense PA at any ⏰ lowers risk for all-cause, CVD cancer death - but, afternoon (11:00-17:00) >50% of total PA shows 🔽 risk for all-cause and CVD mortality than morning night PA, especially in the elderly, males, less active 👥 and those with preexisting CVD

I don’t watch basketball, but this is baffling - his team are still trailing, yet he stands and basks in personal glory - get on with the game and do it after … What would Roy Keane think about this 😂

“In conclusion, we demonstrate that a brief walk outside results in a greater increase in cognitive function than a short walk inside. Given the continued growth in urbanisation and a move to an indoor lifestyle, our results highlight the importance of spending time in nature”

Melatonin is NOT just a 'sleep aid'. It helps the heart, brain, sleep, stress, energy, endocrine, bone, muscle, GI, immune, etc. See free & detailed review paper linked. However, inferring this = 'take a melatonin supplement' is DEAD WRONG. See image. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article…

What an atmosphere that was last night 🙌 Definitely recommend any avid runners to check out the Bilbao night marathon - better suited for the night owls 😉

Usually volunteers for a VO2max test during labs are hard to come by but runner Fionntan was quick to put his hand up today. I now know why after seeing him run 😳 This is him making 17.5km/h look like a stroll 🚶 He ended up with a VO2max score of 64ml/min/kg 🫁🫀💪

Enjoyable day today - first delivering a lecture on “Adaptations to Resistance Training”, followed with lab classes (in the aesthetically new labs) examining lactate responses to exercise 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️🫀🩸😰

Use it or lose it - “Unnecessary neuronal connections and brain functions are eliminated, much as unnecessary muscle tissue atrophies during bed rest or after injury, and this is an active process that can be prevented by maintaining the stimulus” - exercise, music, language etc
One of the coolest papers I've ever read. REALLLLY interesting new open-access (free) paper by the incredible @DrRagnar drawing impressive parallels between "brain responses to cognitive challenge and muscle responses to exercise." mdpi.com/2073-4409/11/18/278…

Lots of people dismiss GPS Distance Stats. I feel if it is used correctly with other data sets it can be a great indicator of performance level. #leedsvschelsea Ball in play 55 minutes and #Leeds 11 kilometres more covered (= 200 meters more per minute of play) 3 - 0 Leeds
