Alberta votes October 19 on whether to start leaving Canada. The man who should be fighting to keep them is nowhere to be found.
Mark Carney grew up there, but his Liberals trail badly and his pipeline promise rings hollow. He's rallying no one.
So someone else has to carry the federalist message. After his Calgary speech, that someone is Pierre Poilievre.
His pitch was simple: Alberta doesn't need a different country. It needs different policies in Ottawa.
After a decade in power, the Liberals caused this crisis. They can't be the cure.
If Confederation survives this vote, don't thank Carney. Thank the man willing to make the case they never could.

Saddened to hear of the death of OPP Constable Tarun Bali, who lost his life in the line of duty today.

The truth is Poilievre has been the ONLY federal leader addressing the recession with sadness and regret, and in a solemn tone.
He's done so by connecting the economic statistics to the experiences of regular Canadians who are suffering under Carney's recession.

"The reality of the recession is one of pain, heartbreak, and disappointment. That’s the reality Mark Carney needs to understand.
So far, he’s hardly risen to the moment. After the numbers landed last week, the PM dodged a question from a reporter about the recession. He literally ran out the door to avoid answering.
The man who built his whole brand on economic competence had nothing to say.
The last thing Canadians need is more speeches about productivity and nation-building. They need a Prime Minister who understands what’s happening at their kitchen tables, and then acts accordingly.

This is what Bill C-5 opened the door to.
The Liberal government made house arrest available again for serious offences that used to be excluded, including robbery.
A violent home invasion should mean jail time.
Their home was broken into at 1:00 a.m. They were violently assaulted and robbed in their own home.
The offender got no jail, just 18 months of house arrest.
That’s not justice.

Alberta is inching toward a separation referendum, and a lot of people are pointing fingers at Premier Danielle Smith.
They've got the wrong target.
For 40 years, Liberal governments treated Alberta like a piggy bank while blocking its economy from growing. From Pierre Trudeau's National Energy Program to Justin Trudeau's "no more pipelines" bill, the message was clear: the West doesn't matter.
Now Carney sells the appearance of progress on a pipeline that still has no shovels in the ground.
You can't spend decades frustrating a province and act shocked when it starts asking if Confederation is worth it. If a referendum comes, the Liberals earned it.
