"This decision now stands as binding precedent. It places real legal constraints on future governments and ensures that the Emergencies Act cannot be repurposed as a political convenience. It restores the act to what Parliament intended: a narrow, exceptional tool, not a blunt instrument against dissent. The government spent millions defending the indefensible. It lost completely. And in doing so, it handed Canadians one of the most important civil liberties rulings in a generation. That is worth celebrating.” @cvangeyn nationalpost.com/opinion/chr…

Honestly, this ought not to be a big deal. Canadians and Americans get along swimmingly, share in defense and prosperity, and have many cross-border relationships. But it IS an issue because first Trudeau, and then especially Mark Carney, pretended otherwise and whipped everyone into an anti-American lather.
Justin Trudeau chose to attend the US World Cup opening ceremony alongside his girlfriend Katy Perry rather than watching Canada’s first match on Friday night. 🖇️ telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2…

Orwell nailed the permanent hypocrisy of the status socialist. They preach equality, but they still want status. They sneer at old class privilege, then build a new version of it out of credentials, correct opinions, approved language, activist causes, and moral vanity. They don’t want a classless society. They want a society where their class is in charge and gets to call its own privileges compassion. You see the same thing today in Canada. The people who lecture working people about sacrifice are rarely the ones paying the real price. They love “equity” until it touches their neighbourhood, their job, their school, their retirement plan, or their social standing. Orwell understood the type perfectly: people who claim to love the common man, but quietly despise his habits, his speech, his politics, and his independence.

"Two men allegedly “associated with a Bosnian fan group were arrested” and taken into custody. Eldar Grabovac, 27, and Emir Colic, 25, of Germany, were each charged with assaulting a police officer and were expected to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Saturday. These allegations have not yet been tested in court. But perhaps the best solution would be to put them on a plane and send them home rather than keep them here for an extended period to sort it out."

Carney renounced his Irish citizenship in March of 2025 and Irish PM Michael Martin "when I say that we are deeply honoured to welcome him back." And good news! Ireland has ratified Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the European Union and Canada. That only leaves Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, and Slovenia to ratify... @markjcarney @MichealMartinTD

If this man is the PhD in economics we understand him to be, there is no way he actually believes any of this. The 21st century will be a rugby match between the U.S. and China. Europe will be watching from the stands. Geography will determine what side Canada will be on.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canadians will be forced to be part of "the next world order" that will emerge from Europe. This will be a unilateral decision that will not ask Canadians for their input. "Canada will be part of that effort."

"One of two things would have happened: Washington would have acquiesced, recognizing the economic benefits of improved border flows might help Republicans prevail in key Senate races in Michigan and Ohio this fall. In the alternative, Washington was within their rights to keep their U.S. Customs plaza closed tight. But that wouldn’t have stopped Carney from capitalizing on the summer tourist season by opening the bridge to U.S. vacationers and truckers looking to take Gordie Howe into Canada. Instead, Canada’s new ambassador to Washington, Mark Wiseman, allowed the worst of all scenarios to play out: Ottawa kicked the president in the shins, only to immediately capitulate, yet again. All of this could have been avoided, and we have no one to blame but ourselves." @markrmcqueen

“Wealth glutton” is the term used by a certain kind of downwardly mobile Canadian ex-journalist to describe what normal people call “successful “
The Shopify CEO is an all time loser, up there with Elon. Just a mortifying wealth glutton. You can’t “make” this much money. You can only steal the fruits of others’ labour. The fact that billionaires exist — while Canadians can’t afford groceries — is a societal failure

Pretty obvious that the ink on the napkin hadn't even dried before Anita Anand sent Rob Oliphant out to do this presser on the proposed new forced labour law Because he had no clue what system the US is using "I've not been engaged on the American system." 🤦‍♂️@Rob_Oliphant @AnitaAnandMP

@MarkJCarney -Honda's messaging today is a carefully worded ultimatum rather than a resignation letter — but the direction is unmistakable. A company that invested in Alliston Ontario since 1986 and announced a $15 billion expansion is now publicly questioning whether large scale Canadian auto manufacturing can be economically justified. The combination of US tariffs squeezing export economics, Chinese EVs undercutting domestic pricing, and emissions regulations mandating a transition whose economics no longer pencil out has created what Honda is essentially calling an impossible business environment. Carney has a narrow window to respond with something concrete before indefinite hold becomes permanent cancellation. @cbcwatcher

The OTPP turned a $300M bet on the $SPCX IPO into ~$16B CAD – roughly $33.5K per each of it's 346K teachers. Thousands more Canadians are along for the ride through their RRSPs, TFSAs, & retail investment. Like Elon or not, a rising tide lifts all boats. Canadian boats too. 🇨🇦

Here's the story CBC and the Globe and Mail should tell: "Software IPOs have minted millionaires for 30 years. This is the first one where the money went to the factory floor." But sadly Canada has become ruled by trust fund babies...
Elon just created 4,400 millionaires in a single day. 400 of them are now worth over $100 million. These aren't VCs. They're SpaceX employees, and the list includes welders, technicians, and cafeteria staff, because for two decades the company paid every level of the workforce in stock instead of higher salaries. Juan Hernandez immigrated from Mexico and took a $28 an hour contractor welding job in 2015. He says he didn't even know what SpaceX was. The company gave him a $10,000 equity grant and let him buy more shares through payroll deductions. That stake is now worth $880,000. Trevor Hise's parents wanted him to take a stable job at General Electric. He picked SpaceX instead, stayed 12 years, and accumulated over 100,000 shares. At the $135 listing price that's $13.5 million. He's 37 and semiretired. His words: "The magnitude of this has been ridiculous." The most telling detail came before the listing. Over 100 employees quietly banded together and negotiated a group wealth management deal covering up to $5 billion, because none of them had ever needed a wealth manager before. Software IPOs have minted millionaires for 30 years. This is the first one where the money went to the factory floor.
