Agents now routinely write working code. The software still feels subtly wrong. We lay out how we define “done” for software in the agentic era.
New Post: Contract Engineering AI agents ship broken software. Tests pass, the app deploys, and it’s still wrong. We’ve been writing contracts: Requiring proof that every event fires in order for every use case. Once all contracts are filled it ships. rubriclabs.com/blog/contract…

New post: Unblocking Agents Agents are capable of building great software. What stops them: permissions, credentials, infrastructure, and identity. We stood up a parallel org called Rubrot and gave agents admin permissions, hardware and credit cards. rubriclabs.com/blog/unblocki…

New post: Primitives over Pipelines The AI systems most teams are shipping today were designed for dumber models. Now that frontier intelligence can follow instructions, reason, and self-correct the move is to give agents primitives and let them cook. rubriclabs.com/blog/primitiv…

GPT-5.2 from @OpenAI launched yesterday and we wanted to test it. We built a playground to test its coding UI capabilities and set a $1000 API limit. Go nuts: rubric.tv

let’s talk about how we built a video streaming pipeline from scratch 4K video (Sony FX3) gets rescaled to 8 resolutions then chunked into m3u8 using ffmpeg in JS-land via @bunjavascript's shell support the whole site is actually open-source: github.com/RubricLab/website…

Instead of sharing a Google Drive link, @dexterstorey built a custom tool to upload and pick from 1000s of high quality images that load instantly w/ preview, collaboration, auth, folders, and more. What a time to be alive.

We've rolled our own custom accounting software to enable an LLM to backlink, reconcile and unify our client management, accounting and reporting in one place. - It's built to handle any currency (normalizes everything to USD based on granular exchange rates) - Works across multiple business entities e.g Rubric Canada, Rubric America, etc. Why? We're on a mission to operate at the scale of 50 people with a headcount of 5-10 people and the first step to that is running your business like an API. Currently, we've only codified our business logic in one place and now we're on track to handle data entry transaction reconciliation using a fine-tuned LLM. At the limit, we'd have real-time insights into our business's health and make more aggressive bets based on the available leverage.
