The Arsenal celebrations show we do not just have to accept high levels of crime and disorder at large gatherings of people in London. Emily Thornberry missed something in her analysis of Notting Hill Carnival vs Arsenal: yesterday’s celebrations were indeed like Carnival, just with less cannabis, more red & white and MUCH less crime. One event attracted a Carnival-sized crowd and generated 16 arrests and 1 stabbing. The other generated 528, 4 stabbings, 18 sexual assaults and 55 officers assaulted. If we're going to compare Carnival with Arsenal's celebrations, we should be honest about the differences and pointing these out is not racist.
