Upon the invitation from the journal Pathogens, my best friend @Yiquan_W and I are serving as guest editors for the Special Issue "Current Research on Influenza Viruses". Please DM or email us if you are interested in submitting your work. Thank you!

Okay, I just found out that my FIU email account has also been closed since I graduated a couple of years ago. Great... ☹️
Please contact me through rlei00155@gmail.com instead, my colleagues, and friends.
To all my friends and colleagues: if you need to reach me, please leave a message here, through LinkedIn, or at rlei001@fiu.edu, as I am facing some issues with my Illinois account. Thank you!
Exciting news! Years of hard work just got published! 🎉 Grateful to my advisor, @wchnicholas , for the opportunity and guidance. Special thanks to Wooseob, Zongjun, Michael, and colleagues @huibinlv1992 for their invaluable help! NA antibody rock! 📚🔬 🚀cell.com/immunity/fulltext/S…
A very talented friend now start as an independ PI this fall! Check him out if you are interested in doing cool research! Potential graduate student, postdoc, research technician are encouraged to apply.
1st paper in 2023 is out now @CellReports! sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
We performed the first DMS of human influenza H3N2 neuraminidase head domain and advances our understanding of the evolutionary potential of NA, therefore, providing insights into NA-based vaccine design.
First-year work as a postdoc in Wu's lab at UIUC is finally out! nature.com/articles/s41467-0…
I would like to thank all the co-authors from our group @wchnicholas and people from @Nairlab_UIUC, @_chris_brooke, Martin Gruebele group for their great help!
Our department at the U. Florida is hiring an assistant professor in Virology. We are particularly interested in RNA viruses and RNA biology but will also consider any cool virology research program. Come join us, it is a great supportive department.

New issue online! Cover depicts work from @wchnicholas, @Yiquan_W, @menz45 &co who performed a large-scale systematic survey to reveal recurring molecular features of public antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2. Image by Yiquan Wang. cell.com/immunity/issue?pii=…
The peer-reviewed version of this study is now published in @ImmunityCP. The comments from the editor and three anonymous reviewers were very constructive and helped us improve the manuscript.

Our new study led by @Yiquan_W & @menz45 thoroughly analyzed the common sequence features of SARS2 spike (S) antibodies and did some deep learning, using the info of ~8000 S antibodies from >200 individuals across 88 publications and 13 patents. (1/14) biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Our new study led by @RuipengUIUC shows that many natural mutations of human H3N2 NA are deleterious for an ancestral strain. Permissive mutations were systematically identified. Mechanisms were determined, including a 1.4 Å crystal structure.

More experts agree with @UofIllinois' @_chris_brooke and @rlsdvm_epivet that saliva samples catch COVID-19 virus earlier than nasal. That's one of the reasons why our covidSHIELD test identifies positives & can help slow virus spread. nytimes.com/2022/01/14/healt…
