Today I learned that: By age 60, 10% of US adults are cancer survivors. By age 80, ~30% men and ~20% women are cancer survivors.

Climbed a peak in Shenandoah NP to celebrate her 1st National Cancer Survivor Day 🎗️💪
Today is National Cancer Survivors Day 🎗️ Being a childhood cancer survivor has taught me resilience, gratitude, and finding joy in ordinary moments. I’ve learned that survivorship isn’t just about what you overcome, it’s also about how you live life after. I’m incredibly grateful for my team who cared for me, believed in me, and gave me hope. Sending love to fellow survivors and to everyone who has been touched by cancer 💛

Thinking of survivors today, while also honoring those who didn’t get the chance to become one. Dedicated to a future where every cancer patient has that opportunity like my incredible wife. 💛

Doesn't this "first" go to @ArceneauxHayley? She was the first person to go to space with a prosthetic leg bone. And first pediatric cancer survivor!

The first person w/ a physical disability to reach orbit was Hayley Arceneaux, a osteosarcoma survivor & PA. She flew to orbit on @inspiration4x in 2021 w/ a lower-limb prosthesis after cancer. Excited to see barriers continue to fall but no childhood cancer survivor erasure! 🚀
1/ Big news! 🚀 The UK government has signed an agreement with US space company @vast that could send UK astronaut John McFall to space. 🧑‍🚀

St. Jude patient Erma’s smile is full of sparkle and joy. “She’s so spirited. She’s definitely experiencing life. It’s a little different than we expected, but it’s still really beautiful,” Erma’s mom said. bit.ly/I947

20 Posts Not To Miss From IARC60 Conference The International Agency for Research on Cancer (@IARCWHO) recently hosted its flagship IARC60 International Scientific Conference, ‘Cancer Research into Action,’ in Lyon, France, marking six decades of global leadership in cancer surveillance and epidemiology. Organized under the leadership of IARC Director Dr. Elisabete Weiderpass and held in partnership with the Union for International Cancer Control (@uicc), the celebratory event convened leading epidemiologists, public health practitioners, and clinical investigators. The conference centered on translating advanced discovery into systemic public health action and establishing robust science-policy frameworks to reduce the global cancer burden. A major focus of the sessions involved addressing regional disparities in data collection and improving clinical research capacity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). By gathering diverse perspectives from across international networks, the conference emphasized that implementing sustainable cancer registries and localized prevention strategies is essential for translating global epidemiological findings into effective national healthcare policies. Below is a curated selection of key highlights, institutional updates, and perspectives shared by global oncology leaders during the three-day event. Read more: oncodaily.com/not-to-miss/ia…

Physicians built the most trusted profession in the world. Then we got quiet. We got busy. We got burned out. And while we were head down, other people started telling our story for us. Let's take the narrative back. Nobody tells your story better than you.

Advances in diagnosis & treatment improve survival, but haven't kept pace with rising incidence or addressed persistent access inequities. Our #IARC60 expert panel makes the case that investing in cancer research is essential for prevention, & equitable & effective cancer control
