The cruel Rwanda scheme actively puts people who come here seeking safety in danger. It ruins lives. It's unworkable. It's expensive. We stand with all those fighting for a compassionate and fair system.
A dark day. But there is always hope.
The Rwanda bill has been passed. Today we grieve, but tomorrow - along with the 500 orgs of the Together With Refugees coalition - will continue to fight for something better.
Pleased to sign this letter, alongside trade unions and environmental and transport groups, calling for peak train fares to be scrapped permanently.
Trains must be more affordable if we are to reduce emissions from transport.

Unions, transport groups, and environmental campaigners want peak train fares in Scotland scrapped permanently.
In a joint letter to the Scottish Government, they argue that keeping ticket prices low will encourage more rail travel and help meet climate targets.
Peak fares were withdrawn in October 2023 under a pilot scheme, but that finishes at the end of June.
We appreciate the generous contribution of @TradesHouse in supporting us with hybrid equipment.
“I love the hybrid events, & GDA makes it feel like we’re in the room with everyone else. I’m not able to get out & miss my pals, but you bring them into my living room, via the iPad!”
ALT GDA members fill a room, with the hybrid set-up visible in the foreground, showing GDA members participating on Zoom.

Community-led work cannot happen without secure, long-term funding.
Organisations like @GDA__online do vital work supporting their members, and should be able to plan and deliver their activity without this uncertainty.
📊NEW ANALYSIS FROM NEF📊 Another round of national insurance cuts, announced tomorrow, would benefit those who need it least. The richest fifth of households would gain 12x more than the poorest fifth. #SpringBudget 1/3
@GDA__online awaiting funding from @scotgov affecting 5500 disabled members. It is not ok that funding ends on 31st March & still no communication. It is not ok that we can't reassure disabled staff & members. Disabled people's lives blighted by #Austerity#Covid#COL#ActNow

GDA's SCEG gathered today to co-design a national complaints system within the NCS.
It must:
Provide access to support for us to have our voices heard in policy and service design in complaints.
Provide Independent advocacy support to help us speak up or to speak for us.
ALT GDA members are gathered around 3 round tables while listening and looking towards a presentation projected at the far end of the room. There are 3 members at the table at the foreground of the image, one with pink hair and one with red hair. The member with red hair is taking notes on their briefing pack.
A key message from new @CHEX_Org briefing on health inequalities in Scotland is the importance of community development and other support so that disadvantaged communities can help make change happen. And don't forget practitioners, who need support too! chex.org.uk/briefings/health…
One of the key messages in our new briefing is to recognise the value of community-led approaches and resource them effectively. A relatively small investment from overall health spend would make a huge difference to the community sector's preventative impact.
New CHEX Briefing published today:
In this timely paper, we set out actions we think can help eradicate health inequality in Scotland.
The actions are based on learning from our work in this area, including from the wider community-led health sector.
