Illegal Monday.
There was a time when people said America’s success came from “magic dirt.” another term for Geographic advantages.
That’s not it.
To put it bluntly - If your country resembles the bottom of a dumpster then its guaranteed to be a low trust society. Haiti, Somalia, Mexico, India... zero concern for neighbors, community, country.
Here is the truth.
America succeeded because it was a high-trust society.
Your word meant something. Neighbors helped neighbors. Contracts were honored. People generally played by the rules even when no one was watching. That trust allowed commerce, innovation, and communities to function efficiently. All the benefits for the poor, elderly, and unhealthy built on high trust assumptions that they would never be exploited.
Scholars like Francis Fukuyama and Robert Putnam have documented how high social trust and social capital are critical to prosperous, stable societies. When trust is high, cooperation is easier and transaction costs are lower.
Now consider where many of today’s illegal immigrants and visa abusers come from.
Many arrive from low-trust societies - places where corruption is normal, nepotism is expected, credentials are routinely faked, and helping your own group at the expense of outsiders is culturally ingrained. In those environments, exploiting the system isn’t seen as wrong. It’s often seen as smart. The system and those who expect fairness are called stupid.
So they bring those habits here.
We see it in organized credential fraud, proxy interviews, resume inflation, cash-under-table hiring, and ethnic hiring pipelines that deliberately sideline Americans. They don’t feel guilt for favoring their own - they feel guilt for not favoring their own. This is how things work in their country- they form tribes and self deal if they want to survive.
A high-trust society is extremely vulnerable to large inflows of people from low-trust cultures. The trust gets exploited. Wages get suppressed. Nepotism replaces merit. Crime rates in certain communities rise. Social cohesion erodes.
This isn’t about race. It’s about culture and trust levels. The trust ranking in countries like Mexico(10%), India(17%), Venezuela (14%), Somalia(0%), Haiti(0%), even Israel (49%) and others consistently rank low on global trust and corruption indexes. When large numbers arrive from those environments, the patterns follow.
High-trust societies work because people assume others will play fair. Low-trust behaviors destroy that assumption. They USA has fallen from the most trusted country on the index to less than 50% just as their academic scores have fallen- in direct relationship to the immigration of peoples from low trust societies.
Also telling is that certain communities within the USA are still conducting themselves with high trust principles when they prefer not to with other communities they are called biased or bigots.
We are watching a high-trust society being diluted by mass low-trust immigration - both illegal and legal. The results are predictable: declining social trust, higher corruption, suppressed wages, and natives feeling like strangers in their own country.
This is not sustainable.
