Recent rain has contributed to widespread growth of death cap mushrooms through the area, including in SMC Parks. Be Safe: don’t pick or eat any wild mushrooms during this high-risk season.
CDPH advises avoiding foraging or eating wild mushrooms in the Bay Area. Toxic death cap mushrooms can look edible but are deadly. Cooking does not make them safe.
If exposed, call Poison Control: 1-800-222-1222.
