Here's Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, in 2018, writing about work on 'Albexit' by Jack Mintz. Smith just appointed Mintz to head a provincial panel detailing the economic case to *remain* in Canada.

The problem with Poilievre’s message is he insists hshould have been gifted a mandate a year ago. Except Canadians rejected his ideas. He’s repackaged the same offer. Mr Poilievre seems to think there’s injustice at work. Really it’s just Conservatives can’t win elections.
So basically Pierre's message for national unity is: "Please, let me be prime minister."

You sir are an idiot.
I find it a bit cringe when Carney wears his Order of Canada medal around his neck in public like this, like he just finished winning second place at the blueberry pie bake-off.

He’s still got it.
Chrétien: When you look at the polls, Canadians have never been more united. Thank you to Donald Trump for that. I should propose him for the Order of Canada, but I cannot succeed. Do you know why? Rosie: He's not Canadian? Chrétien: Because we don't give it to a person who has a criminal record.

How is this any different from the “Canada is broken” message that was predictable (and spectacular) failure during last year’s federal election… You know, the one where he blew a 20-pt lead? This is a moment that calls for a lot more than sounding petty, repetitive and small
CBC News : Poilievre expected to call on Albertans to band with provinces, demand federal policy changes cbc.ca/news/politics/poiliev…

Nothing says campaigning for a "united Canada" like making your case for unity conditional on your own agenda while simultaneously fuelling animosity toward the federal government.

Poilievre continues to make separatist-adjacent arguments - a vote for separatism as leverage - instead of a straightforward argument in favour of Canada. He seems unable to inhabit the role of statesman, no matter the nature of the existential threat to the country.
I think it’s great Pierre Poilievre is going to campaign for unity. That’s genuinely good for Canada and all parties should be present this summer to make that case. But this argument runs the risk validating separatists and those who think it’s a cost free exercise of leverage.

So it sounds like Minister Dreeshen may be a separatist. Who could have possibly seen that coming? #ableg
Alberta cabinet minister won't say if he supports keeping province in Canada. Other cabinet members lining up behind Smith's pledge to vote to stay. But Devin Dreeshen avoids answering, @markusoff reports cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/a… Find out more at nationalnewswatch.com

These are Mitch Sylvestre’s literal, recorded words: “in our constitution, it says you’re going to have to be born in Alberta to become a citizen.” Full quote in context is below. Or you can listen to him saying it here: canva.com/design/DAHLPoGBKWo…
Replying to @HarchReality
What were his real literal recorded words? (I know you wont post them, this is rhetorical)

Sorry @SPhillipsAB Requiring proof of citizenship to vote isn’t a restriction. It’s the bare minimum for real democracy. Citizenship decides who gets a say. Without upfront checks you’re inviting fraud and that’s exactly what we see when verification is weak. Look at the pattern in the US. States that don’t require ID at the polls overwhelmingly vote Democrat. California, New York, Illinois, Oregon, Minnesota, and the rest of that list. Is that a coincidence? Or does loose verification help one side? Premier Danielle Smith gets this right. She’s making Alberta the first province with a combined card that puts citizenship proof, photo ID, and even your health number all in one secure spot at no extra cost. It streamlines services so Albertans can access student aid, health benefits, and disability supports faster without hauling around extra documents. It builds trust and directly protects elections by making sure only eligible citizens vote. Smart move that makes life easier for real Albertans while closing loopholes. Securing elections means proof of citizenship, paper ballots only, and real scrutineers from all sides watching every step. No hackable machines that can be flipped without a trace. Anything less leaves the system open to manipulation. So why fight basic safeguards like this card? Why frame it as some partisan attack instead of common sense? The practical result is elections that can be tainted. Do you actually want that? Because fighting every layer of verification sure looks like it. Democracy needs paper, eyes on the count, and confirmed citizens only. No excuses. #Alberta #DanielleSmith #ElectionIntegrity #ProofOfCitizenship #AlbertaStrong #CanadaPolitics #SecureOurVote #AlbertaFirst What do you think Alberta? Let’s get this right for the next generation.

This is rich from the US. Can Canada do more to stop forced labour goods entering our country? Yes. But consider the US’s record on labour rights. It’s bad. - right to work states - forced prison labour - core ILO conventions still unratified To name a few.
We have taken note of the consultation process launched by the United States on Section 301 tariffs regarding a wide range of countries.   This does not come as a surprise, as the United States has stated its intention to replace existing baseline global tariffs imposed under Section 122 when they expire in July.   Notably, the new Section 301 tariffs include a CUSMA carve-out and other existing product exemptions.   Canada has a robust regime to protect against forced labour practices, and we will soon be taking action to make it even stronger, including through the introduction of new legislation this month, while continuing to work closely with our trading partners.   We share the United States’ objective of ensuring that goods produced with forced labour do not enter our supply chains, and we will be engaging constructively with them over the coming weeks.

Spokesperson for Danielle Smith believes there’s mass vote-rigging in blue states. Totally normal, non-internet-brainworms-stuff coming from the Government of Alberta.

Canada's decision to acquire 26 HIMARS directly from the U.S. government is a signal of allied commitment and interoperability. A $2.6 billion investment in long-range precision fires strengthens North American security and NATO readiness.
