ALT A side by side comparison of the UK Conservative Party in the 2020s with the German Nazi party in the 1930s. Both of them have: Criminalised peaceful protest (police bill) Criminalised gypsy and roma traveller way of life (police bill) Ended fair elections (elections bill has let the government take control of the independent electoral commission, brought in voter IDs and allows the government to set the standards on fair campaigning) Both regimes made it easier to strip citizenship (nationality and borders bill), and both became unaccountable in law (Judicial review bill) Human rights were removed by the Nazis, and are about to be removed in the UK with the Brexit freedoms bill. Both regimes blame immigrants and minorities for all of society’s problems.

When colleagues see me practice or I support them going through hardships, Im told I'll make an amazing social worker.. & part of me believes it! But the uni side of this app. & admin side of work is such a constant exhausting struggle w/ adhd (see gif), its hard to have faith

After ages of trying for a specific residency, ringing daily and hoping, finally there is space and the gentleman gets to be somewhere he feels comfortable and among friends before it became a crisis and was moved somewhere he didnt wanna go😭 had to mute mic & fist pump the air

I did my first individual presentation for college today and although I was a bag of nerves, I did it! Very pleased and feeling super accomplished as I lost a family friend this week and was considering giving up after the year ive had! Feeling accomplished (and ready for bed!)

Heard someone in conversation say "hes not like, an alcoholic, but every night he goes out with or round a mates to get wasted"
Check on your friends, it doesn't have to be drinking at home alone for it to be a dependancy. We've gotta start talking about binge drinking culture.

One of my best friends just shared her live location with me before going on a date. Most of my female friends do this before they meet men. As much as we are trying to increase our chances of being rescued, we are also saying “this is where you will find my body.”

Tonights @SW_student_con webinar was phenomenal. I feel I want to show everyone I work with. Actually everyone I know in AND out of the field!
And as someone who just today reflected on self-doubt, this slide particularly struck a chord #nobodysperfect #empathyfirst

Something that really annoys me is how people can proudly say they see everyone's potential when supporting people they are assigned to as a social worker but not extend this to their colleagues/others they meet. Being anti-oppressive is something you should promote with everyone

Classroom learning, chatting face to face, lunches in the park, meet ups after college (may have involved the pub) and some really really interesting, funny & intriguing group discussions. A great (and absolutely knackering) block week = DONE. #socialwork #apprentice #wegotthis

I am loooving the frequent engagement with people and discussions around practice and ethical dilemmas and all that comes with studying this profession in HE. Nothing beats a session of active discussion and curiosity between peers! And they're all a really great bunch - bonus!!

Something we noticed at dinner last night, females are asked if they're comfortable with male carers, but how likely is it a man is asked the same about a female? The wrong message is instilled in these small moments. To me, this says "Men are dangerous women are vulnerable".
