It all matters! Love this!
Vanderbilt Head Football Coach Clark Lea (@Coach_Lea) epitomizes the meaning of ownership. I love this clip because it's a masterclass in refusing to play the victim, escaping the echo chamber that imprisons so many people, and understanding that the internal agreement you make to chase excellence comes with immense pain and a hard truth: Nobody is coming to save you. πŸ”₯ We are not victims in this process. The joy we experience is often equal and opposite to the pain we endure. Growth isn't found by avoiding adversity, it's found by carrying it with pride. The struggle you're facing today may be the very thing preparing you for the opportunities you're praying for tomorrow. 🧭 You don't control every circumstance, but you do control your response. This is the ground you stand on. This is where you're supposed to be. There are no mistakes. Every challenge, setback, and obstacle has the potential to drive you forward if you're willing to accept it as part of your journey rather than evidence that you've been treated unfairly. πŸͺž Ownership requires honesty. Be proud of where you are, but be honest about where you've fallen short. The objective is never to wait for someone else to rescue you. The objective is always to perform better. To improve. To adapt. To grow. Excellence begins the moment you stop asking who will save you and start asking how you can become better. The moment you stop seeing your circumstances as something happening to you and start seeing them as something shaping you, adversity transforms from a burden into a blueprint. @VandyFootball is leaning into this idea for the 2026 season. #AnchorDown

Great teams don’t make excuses.
They make adjustments. No… β€¨β€œYeah, but the refsβ€¦β€β€¨β€œYeah, but they’re more talentedβ€¦β€β€¨β€œYeah, but we were tired…” Accountability starts when the excuses stop.

As contagious as it is to watch Belushi, you just can't take your eyes off of Aykroyd. The sheer amount of talent on that small stage is staggering. The Blues Brothers performing 'Soul Man' live on SNL, in 1978. 48 years apart yet it is still incredibly impressive.

Marcus Freeman shares why "leading by example" isn't enough. "We don't love leaders by example. Because leaders by example are guys that do what they're told to do, they do everything they're asked, right?" "But they don't say things when their teammates aren't reaching the standard. We can't have that." Real leadership isn't just performing at the standard. It's protecting the standard. "We need more leaders. Guys that are willing to hold their teammates accountable because it's gonna make your teammate better." Accountability isn't about being hard on people. It's about caring enough to not let them settle. "I wanna make everybody in our organization the best they possibly can be. So if I let you cut corners or I don't say something to you when you're falling under the standard, then I'm not helping push you to the best you can be." Leading by example is the baseline. Leading with accountability is the standard. (πŸŽ₯notredamebusiness )

Amen It all matters!
We are going to see soon that 1000s of players made mistakes. Coach nails it. Stop worrying about a check. Start enjoying life. Most of those in the portal just made their college experience more expensive and many just ended theirs.

Tony Dungy said, "If you only coach that person on the field and you only make them a better player, you've really missed a great opportunity." Great coaches coach character. They focus on developing people. Because character outlasts talent, stats, and wins.

Rick Pitino said, "You're not allowed to give excuses because excuses are a sign of weakness. We give no excuses when we fail." "Failure is just fertilizer to help us grow as a team." Excuses are just noise. You either make progress or make excuses. But you can't do both.

It all matters! Be a great teammate first
Geno Auriemma said, "Your contribution doesn’t have to be 25 points. But it has to be something." "Your number one contribution is the energy you bring." You don’t have to score to make an impact. Great teammates bring energy, effort, and attitude.

When Jesus gave thanks, miracles followed. Whether breaking bread with His disciples, feeding five thousand with five loaves and two fish, or standing before Lazarus’ tomb, Jesus began each moment with gratitude. Even as the shadow of the cross loomed over Him, He gave thanks - teaching us that thanksgiving isn’t a reaction to blessing; it’s the seed that produces it. In every circumstance, giving thanks releases God’s power to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. In a world filled with uncertainty, the spirit of thanksgiving is our weapon against fear and despair. Like King David declared, β€œOh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” When we choose gratitude, even in times of personal storms or national crisis, we invite God’s presence into our lives. Give thanks today - not because everything is perfect, but because God is still on the throne.

Congratulations coach!
Wow! Thank you Jesus! Finished 7-3 after going 1-8 in our 1st year. We inherited a mess & turn it in 18 months. We were ranked as high #13 Nationally and #4 in CA in the toughest conference in CA juco. God guided us on one of the best turnarounds in college 🏈 at all levels!πŸ’―
