California voted 63 percent to ban this. Massachusetts voted 78 percent. The industry sued and lost at the Supreme Court. So they slipped a provision into the House farm bill to void both votes and block every future state from trying. One lobbying campaign undoing two supermajority referendums. The largest beneficiary is Smithfield - owned by a Chinese company. Congress is being asked to override American voters to protect a Chinese corporation's factory farming practices. 84 percent of Americans called this unacceptable in polling. The Senate gets to decide if that number means anything.
Here's what the pork industry doesn't want you to know about the way it sneaked a provision into the 2026 farm bill that would nullify ballot measures that improve animal welfare, while helping Chinese companies torture American pigs. The issue is personal to me, because we once raised pigs on our family farm, and I saw that these are not commodities but animals rather like dogs: smart with very distinct personalities. A naughty boy who punishes a single animal may be punished, but an adult who presides over the systematic abuse of hundreds of thousands of pigs as a business model is hailed as a visionary CEO -- and voters get that, and that's why they have backed laws that improve animal wellbeing. This is, remarkably, an issue that unites many liberals and conservatives alike; @TomiLahren, @Cernovich and @IngrahamAngle are among those who have been outspoken on this issue. I hope R and D members of Congress alike will stand firm, for the stakes are immense, with four pigs slaughtered around the clock on average all year. Here's a gift link to my piece: nytimes.com/2026/05/30/opini… I welcome your comments.

The FBI explicitly stopped tracking Neo-Nazis & their ilk in 2025. The San Diego massacre is on Kash Patel
There’s a propaganda campaign on this crappy website — amplified by the algorithm and the likes of Musk — to claim “the Left” is uniquely responsible for political violence. The silence from that crowd following the extreme right wing mosque attack in San Diego is instructive.

Strange how neo-Nazis and white supremacists do not make it into the White House Counterterrorism strategy
Videos of the #SanDiego mosque shooting have begun to emerge. I recommend not reposting them but will use pictures to answer a few questions I'm getting. - First, I want to make one point clear: the video shows a young male matching Cain Clark’s description, wearing a tactical vest with a visible Sonnenrad patch — one of the main neo-Nazi and white supremacist emblems. - Combined with the SS-marked red jerry can at the scene — a neo-Nazi symbol derived from the Schutzstaffel (SS) — this leaves little room for debate about the ideological motivation. - To be clear, the symbols alone don’t prove they were the direct trigger for the shooting. But paired with 1) anti-Islamic writings recovered by law enforcement 2) hate markings on the firearms, 3) a note referencing racial pride and extremism, and 4) the choice of a mosque as the target, they strongly indicate the attack was driven by white supremacist/neo-Nazi ideology. - These symbols aren't random fashion choices. They are deliberate signals of a hateful worldview targeting specific groups, in this case Muslims.

Seems very bad that the pork industry and the Trump admin are trying to ban basic animal cruelty laws. Some states banned inhumane practices like gestation crates & overcrowding. They're trying to sneak the 'Save Our Bacon Act' into the farm bill to kill those state-level bans.
The pork industry lost with voters. Lost at the Supreme Court. So they turned to Congress—and got the "Save Our Bacon" Act buried in the House Farm Bill. It's the biggest rollback of animal welfare protections in U.S. history. A thread. 🧵

There have been only four Black congressmen elected to the U.S. House from Louisiana since Reconstruction. They’re all in this photo.
Rep. Cleo Fields, whose 6th Congressional District was ruled unconstitutional, gives his testimony. Fields pointed out how the only four African-American representatives from Louisiana since 1877 are here. #lalege #lagov @LAFirstNews

veganism is anti-capitalism. and agriculture has a lot of cruelty in its farming and labor practices, but we could reduce that cruelty and environmental harm by not feeding 80% of it to livestock
veganism is not inherently a morally superior position. the vegetables and fruits you consume are also harvested via immense cruelty & exploitation, not to even mention indigenous practices or food deserts. if you care about animals, the position to take is anti-capitalism.

The fake “I’m not vegan because I respect indigenous communities” thing drives me crazy like what about the indigenous communities having their land burned down in the Amazon for illegal cattle ranching?

While we're talking about indigenous hunting, let's talk about the 400 indigenous communities in the Amazon losing their traditional food sources and lands to cattle ranching, which accounts for roughly 80% of deforestation in the Amazon theguardian.com/environment/…

I asked Sec. Zeldin if he ever met with Bayer/Monsanto about their legal issues on glyphosate. He said “No, I never did.” Then, “my mtg was very brief.” Here are visitor logs EPA emails showing Bayer’s CEO, VP, & lobbyist meeting w/ Zeldin’s EPA before their EO/SCOTUS filing.

A Perry Mason moment here between AOC and Lee Zeldin. After Lee Zeldin denies meeting with Bayer to discuss litigation the company was facing, AOC presents visitor logs and emails from Zeldin’s senior advisor stating that Zeldin would be meeting with the Bayer CEO to discuss “legal/judicial issues.” “In this internal email, it says that Bayer was specifically seeking and discussing Supreme Court action, it would want an update on EPA’s regulatory review, and that, interestingly, Bayer will provide a small thanks for updating the glyphosate webpage from the EPA and work on MAHA.”
