Does #mitochondrial #respiration in DCs just “fuel” activation? In our new @SciImmunology study, we show that mitochondrial Complex I is a selective checkpoint for #antigen #cross-presentation in #DCs, especially #cDC1s science.org/doi/10.1126/scii… @CNIC_CARDIO

Papers like this are why science remains endlessly exciting. This one made me feel the same wonder I felt at 15 when I first discovered science. || Homing pigeon navigation relies on superparamagnetic macrophages under overcast conditions | Science science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…

How does oxygen sensing shape alveolar #macrophage (AM) identity? In our new @CellReports HIF-1α and HIF-2α play distinct, non-redundant roles in AM maturation & function A #metabolic split that defines macrophage biology in the lung. OPEN: sciencedirect.com/science/ar… @CNIC_CARDIO

🏡Take home: Oxygen sensing splits macrophage identity: 👉 HIF-1α → glycolysis & immature state 👉 HIF-2α → lipid metabolism & surfactant clearance Together, they define maturation, self-renewal, and function. OPEN ACCESS: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Great talk at #EASCongress2026 on plaque regression in #atherosclerosis using spatial transcriptomics: regression shows a distinct lipid‑driven signature, with #Nestin#macrophages and #Treg interaction via IGF1–IGF1R. Blocking this axis prevents regression!

#GlutamineGlutamate ratio links to #macrophage metabolism, impaired #efferocytosis, and plaque progression. Very exciting to see how small metabolites are gaining increasing recognition in disease diagnosis and as alternative pathways in atherosclerosis. #ASCVD #EASCongress2026

It is always a pleasure to hear @SanchoLab about cDC1 as key drivers of pathogenic Th1/CD8 T-cell responses, and a proof-of-concept strategy using nanoparticle-delivered dexamethasone to modulate cDC1–T cell crosstalk and reduce atherosclerosis. #EASCongress2026
