#Licensing: Researchers at CCAMP in collaboration with @DBT_CDFD Hyderabad have successfully developed and tested in mice a novel topical formulation RegenHeal that shows significantly accelerated complex wound healing through promoting regeneration of tissues
The Problem: The risk factor for complex foot ulcers is as high as 15-25% in diabetic patients as per a global study conducted in 2018. Efficient wound healing is a major challenge in case of Diabetic wounds/ foot ulcers, Pressure ulcers, Venous leg ulcers. Impaired wound healing greatly impacts physical, psychological, social, and economic aspects for patients, affecting their quality of life, even calling for amputations in certain difficult cases.
Current Scenario: Frequent surgical debridement, antibiotic dressings, or recombinant growth factor injections are the solutions employed now. All have limitations ranging from requirement of skilled medical personnel, secondary antimicrobial resistance, low efficacy and high cost.
RegenHeal's performance: On a head to head with a marketed product, in vivo data showed that the 2 proprietary components of RegenHeal have significantly better:
a) Wound healing
b) Collagen deposition in diabetic animals.
We believe it will also be useful for treatment of other complex wounds like pressure ulcers and burns.
