If you need me, I'll be in the other place. I got in a while back so I've the blissful simplicity of my own name as my handle. No extra words, numbers, letters or symbols. Ahhh. See you there.

Really shocking scenes in Spain showing the sheer power of the flood waters and the terrible loss of life 😢
As the waters recede it’s not hard to see why so many have lost their lives in and around Valencia. Recovery will take years and cost billions.

Great explainer from Alex on thunderstorms below, well worth a watch. We had a great team chat this week about them and all got a bit overexcited 😂 #WeatherGeeks

What makes a thunderstorm? How hot is lightning? And which is louder thunder or a chainsaw? Thunderstorms in the UK can occur at any time of year. But the most severe usually occur in the summer months and particulate after a couple of days of hot, humid and sunny weather.

While visiting @metofficeUK Minister Oppong-Asare @abenaopp practiced her weather presenting skills in the studio. Her visit marks the 10th anniversary of the pioneering Space Weather Operations Centre.

Kudos and thanks to minister @abenaopp who was up before dawn and trekked across the country in the rain to visit us @metoffice HQ today and see first hand how we're supporting @cabinetofficeuk and the resilience community.

Our @metoffice staff are embedded in the @FCDOGovUK crisis centre supporting officials and the new Foreign Secretary on the response to Hurricane Beryl - strong cross government effort.
The UK is helping our friends in the Caribbean as they deal with the devastating effects of Hurricane Beryl by releasing funds to help the region recover. I have just been speaking with the Cayman Premier and Governor to outline our commitment to the Overseas Territories.
