We originally planned for a small pilot. Instead, we exceeded expectations. That was not luck. It was structure. We engaged industry partners early. We enabled novice practitioners safely. We embedded supervision, standards and accountability from day one. This is not just a training course. It is a system. Our model blends theory, simulation and supervised practice. It aligns with structured competency and CPD pathways used in the UK . It draws on the original educational framework published in Venepuncture and Cannulation . Now we move into Phase Two. This is where adaptation and co-design matter. Double diamond thinking. Refine before scaling (spread) When we talk about scale, we mean operational scale. The infrastructure is built for large onboarding numbers. But the smallest adjustment at this stage determines whether we achieve traction or simply activity. In systems terms, this is the difference between scale and spread. Here’s a spot of good news: in a survey of 125,000 kids aged 8 to 18 in 479 UK schools, 36.1% say they like reading in their spare time — up from 32.7% last year. According to the National Literacy Trust, 20.3% say they read every day. Last year’s figure was 18.7%.
