ICOMOS strongly condemns the reported airstrikes of 7 June affecting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ancient City of Tyre, which was recently granted Enhanced Protection under the Second Protocol of the 1954 Hague Convention.

I think it's a good thing to include experts in all relevant fields as co-authors. There are many archaeologists available and some with solid knowledge of lithic technology. We are nice. :)

A new preprint from the geneticist David Reich focuses on the interactions of Neanderthal and African ancestral humans 250,000 years ago. Many parts I wholly agree with, but the key idea about Levallois technology is out of step with today's data.

The 27th International Scientific Conference of ICOMOS ISC TheoPhilos, organized in collaboration with ICOMOS ICAHM, will take place in Florence on 12-13 March 2026 at Palazzo Coppini.
These two days will serve to explore the theme “The Protection of Archaeological Heritage: Theory Meets Practice”, bringing together international scholars and practitioners to reflect on the dialogue between conceptual frameworks and on-the-ground conservation.
All are welcome to register to attend the conference, either on site or online.

ICOMOS, together with @ICCROM and @IUCN – the Advisory Bodies to the World Heritage Committee – and @UNESCO, have launched the French translation of the "Enhancing Our Heritage Toolkit 2.0" (EoH 2.0), making this key resource for World Heritage management accessible to an even wider francophone community.
The ENG, POL and AR versions were respectively published in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
