As scientists, we need to do better. And our institutions need to help set the expectation that we need to do better, too.
s/o to @scipolnetwork for helping me with writing this piece!

We are hiring three postdocs in the @CHEMINA_Lab in diverse projects from aptamer SELEX to biosensing. Please apply to one of our three openings:
🔹Aptamer SELEX: lnkd.in/ddGAfZca
🔹Focal Molography: lnkd.in/dVRM3jB9
🔹Nanobiosensors: lnkd.in/dAGEuPd4
i'm just a senior postdoc, standing in front of a career that i have worked really hard for, asking higher education in the united states to not completely implode in front of my eyes before i even get a chance to say the words 'my lab studies'
We’re excited to kick off APTAWINS – a multidisciplinary project supported by the @snsf_ch and the ANR! We consolidated a transdisciplinary team uniting @EPFL_en with @BordeauxINP and @CNRS. We just welcomed the whole team for the first strategy meeting at @CampusBiotech!🧠🧬
i went into science because i'm good at doing experiments at the bench and analyzing data and not good at writing and interacting with people. all i do with my time now is write and interact with people :(
Join me in supporting ESAL this Giving Tuesday, Dec 3! We are mostly volunteer-run, working to connect people with these scientific expertise to local decision making. Please consider supporting me and ESAL with a donation at esal.us/donate 🤗🤩

1st @CHEMINA_Lab Retreat in the books! We enjoyed two days packed with discussing lab values, brainstorming how to tackle unsolved challenges in our field, cooking pizzas as a highly competitive activity, hiking in beautiful fall landscape, and picnicking in the woods! ✨
If I had a nickel for every time a woman named Rosalind got neither the credit nor a Nobel Prize for her work, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
Congratulations to our 2024 medicine laureate Victor Ambros ✨
This morning he celebrated the news of his prize with his colleague and wife Rosalind Lee, who was also the first author on the 1993 'Cell' paper cited by the Nobel Committee.

The @CHEMINA_Lab has a new postdoc member! Emily comes from a bioelectronics background, using organic materials to build new biosensors. She's excited to take this work a step further by integrating our aptamers into devices for studying the brain and all of its complexity! 🧠🧬

Future and present #AptaWineClub members ft. @HTSohLab ladies who have totally qualified to be a part of our club - who knew there were vineyards in Rhode Island - a top location to have a GRC! 🧬🍷
Humbled and beyond excited to begin my independent career as an assistant professor this August as part of the @NDCBE faculty at @NotreDame. Can't wait to move into my lab in McCourtney Hall and get to work on organic mixed conductor fundamentals and applications!
BIG s/o to @SPOTforceNU for helping me turn a casual musing into a full blown study! I hope work likes this inspires more and more universities/depts to incorporate #scipol#scicomm education into their curricula🥳
Congrats to Emily Schafer on her new publication! Her paper covers how interest in science policy and science communication has grown in recent years and suggests policies to support SciComm and SciPol professional development in grad school.

That’s a wrap @NorthwesternBME - had a fantastic visit meeting the faculty and sharing our love of aptamer biosensors. I even got to reunite with a prior PhD colleague from @uclachem! Thank you again @jrivnay for hosting, I’m so happy we FINALLY got to meet in person 🧬🧠✨
