Welp, it seems I've been cut off. This was fun and I'll try to do it for pre-2002 pages soon.

"There's whiskey drinkers and milk drinkers, and we've got a lot of whiskey drinkers on this team." On a real rivalry, an epic gold medal game, and the stark contrast between winners and losers to close the Olympics. My last dispatch for the Post. washingtonpost.com/sports/ol…

One thing to make clear: American athletes don't necessarily arrive at the Olympics, guns blazing with their thoughts about the state of things in a binary world. They're asked, and they answer -- thoughtfully, with nuance. Isn't that what we want? washingtonpost.com/sports/ol…

Will Lewis’s exit is long overdue. His legacy will be the attempted destruction of a great American journalism institution. But it's not too late to save The Post. Jeff Bezos must immediately rescind these layoffs or sell the paper to someone willing to invest in its future.

You failed, mate. You epically, monumentally failed, and showed yourself to be a coward in the process. Hope the Super Bowl is brilliant.

Just to be clear, there were no 2,000-word features on a local basketball team. More than anything, it speaks to the lack of engagement with the sports department from whoever this unnamed person is, someone who likely helped decide the fate of dedicated reporters and editors.
thoughts from senior management on the gutting of the Washington Post this week: They say job cuts will allow the paper to break even this year, & Bezos will then invest more. lots more details in our story: as.ft.com/r/97f49156-657c-47…

Will Lewis was too busy to join the call to tell his staff he’s destroying the @washingtonpost sports department yesterday … but he did have time to walk the red carpet at NFL Honors here in San Francisco today. Amazing.
