David Hockney has died (88, fair innings). There will be endless praise and memory but for my part I want you to know he painted his illegal existence, years before homosexuality became legal, decades before acceptance, and that, that is beauty.
Paint your illegal existence.

ALT We two Boys Together Clinging 1961- David Hockney
a mixed-media or abstract painting with a strong textual element. It depicts two blocky, humanoid figures embracing each other, one painted in reddish tones and the other in darker hues with vertical stripes. Above the figures, text reads “we 2 boys together clinging,” while other scattered words like “boy” and “never” appear throughout the composition. The background mixes shades of blue, gray, and red, with additional abstract brushstrokes and small heart shapes. The overall style is raw, expressive, and childlike, with an emotional, intimate theme emphasizing connection and closeness.
