Today is Flag Day! The current design of Florida's state flag was adopted in 1900. Because when furled, the flag lacked color, the 1899 Legislature voted to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot to update the flag. BREAKING: Trump says a deal with Iran is scheduled to be signed tomorrow. “Immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL.” The president says the agreement will permanently prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and described it as the exact opposite of the Obama-era nuclear deal. The founding of Tallahassee In June 1823, Florida’s territorial council authorized Governor William P. Duval to select the site for the fledging territory’s capital. Two commissioners, one traveling from St. Augustine and one from Pensacola, met at the confluence of the St. Marks and Wakulla rivers. They trekked 20 miles north, arriving at a Native American settlement they deemed a suitable location.
