ALT THEY HEAR BEAUTY A special photo exhibition was held at the Tashkent House of Photography, where for the first time, the works of deaf and hard-of-hearing young people were presented to the public. The author of the project, Husniddin Ato, helps young people discover their hidden talents.

ALT People with hearing impairments have a more developed ability to experience the world through sight; they enjoy the world through images of color, shape, weather, light, and shadow. Photography can open doors of opportunity for them to express themselves. It is not just a skill, but a way to break down barriers in society, to leave behind speech and words to express their worldview and feelings, and to tell stories visually. There are many deaf and hard-of-hearing people in the country. Training opportunities after special education are somewhat limited. On the other hand, the art of painting and photography serves as a universal language.

ALT It is the humanistic duty of modern society to help people with disabilities find their place in society and master a skill, a craft, or a profession that will improve their living conditions. One way is to identify those who are capable of creativity and art and help discover talents. Everyone has talent. It is only necessary to search, to discover, and when the talent is found, to develop and properly educate it.

ALT For the first time in Uzbekistan, a revolutionary initiative is being implemented to introduce deaf and hard-of-hearing youth to the art of photography. This gives them an opportunity to find not only a hobby, but also a profession, to find a voice and a place in society. Photography for these young people is not just an art. It is a means of expressing inner feelings, and a way of describing their "world" that they cannot share with anyone else. With the help of light photography, they recognize themselves in a silent world, communicate with the world, express their feelings, and make themselves heard by others. Their photographs are their voice, an important message to the community. Photography is a powerful tool for young people who are deaf and hard-of-hearing to make a statement that they are equal members of society.
