Lot of people pushing back against this are saying prequel memes weren’t in “full swing” until around 2016-17 which is kind of insane because that was around the time I remembered them effectively dying out as a trend. Like by 2019 it was dead in the water.
I genuinely stopped caring about this discussion years ago but I’d like to remind you guys that TROS is 7 years old this year. When ROTS was 7 years old (2012) prequel memes were already in full swing

Prequel memes were always more of a millennial trend co-opted by gen-zers who used them as a basis for revisionism once they got a little older, and that was around 2015-ish to coincide with TFA’s release. But the memes themselves had been around for years by that point.

Maybe the argument is that it’s gonna have to come from younger fans who were, like, toddler age when those movies came out. In which case if you were 4 when TFA came out you’re turning 15 this year. About the age I was when prequel revisionism really started to become the norm.

haven't watched this yet but I'll say I fully believe that at the very least rise of skywalker will have a r/prequelmemes-tier reevaluation the likes of revenge of the sith had. it is an immensely funny movie in all the ways it doesn't intend to be funny

Something the ST has going for it is that a lot of the broader prequel revisionism happened as a reaction to the sequels. A worse thing existed, so people looked back on them more fondly. Depending on the direction of Mandoverse slop, the same could easily happen for the ST

But ultimately I just think there are too many differing cultural variables at play to make an accurate estimation either way. If you ask me, probably not, but I’m not married to that idea. I guess it depends on how well liked they are among the generation who grew up with them.

This is an interesting theory but I actually think it does a disservice to Clark’s character arc. The whole point, in my opinion, is that he is a narcissist trying to “win” therapy. He’s trying to convince Mary that he was the victim. That life isn’t fair 1/4

I haven't seen anyone mention this, so I will. I think Clark was in therapy against his will. I think it was court mandated. I think the night where he was drunk and spilled the glass he did something to his wife and instead of prison time it was therapy
