New open access paper in @MSKPhysioJnl Self-management is widely recognised as essential in musculoskeletal care - but implementing it in everyday practice remains complex. This paper reflects on key gaps and challenges, and highlights the need to move beyond intervention-focused thinking towards greater attention for context, alignment, and sustainability. πŸ”— doi.org/10.1016/j.msksp.2026…

Our proposed hypothesis framework for MSK-related pain conditions. Pathology doesn't always tell the full picture. We believe this can address many factors that a person may have when presenting with pain.

Honored to have contributed to the updated ACSM Position Stand on Resistance Training Prescription for Muscle Function, Hypertrophy, and Physical Performance in Healthy Adults. This was a major undertaking that synthesized findings from all related systematic reviews to develop recommendations aligned with the current body of evidence. It was truly a collaborative effort among all co-authors. Particular kudos to @mackinprof for leading the project and fostering inclusivity throughout the process. #gottalift pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/article…

Excited to share this. I have been deep into addressing sleep in clinical practice since 2018. My hope is that this open access pub and podcast can help PTs out there. Treating pain must encompass lifestyle behaviors - we highlight how specifically for sleep. @JOSPT

Proud of the work out team put together for this one. OPEN ACCESS for those who are interested in reading and using in the clinic!
Our new masterclass provides insight on how pain is rarely driven by a single mechanism. The Person-Centered Hypothesis (PCH) framework brings together pain phenotypes, pathology, regional interdependence, and psychosocial and lifestyle influences into a coherent clinical picture. Visual tools such as the radar plot help clinicians prioritise what matters most for this person, at this moment. For educators and mentors, PCH offers a shared language for case discussion, supervision, and assessment. A valuable contribution to contemporary musculoskeletal education. A practical framework for navigating complexity without increasing cognitive load. We want a rainbow of vegetables and fruits on our plates because each color signifies a different healthy phytonutrient--nutrient in the plant. Aim to consume 7-9 a day (2-3 fruits and 5-7 vegetables). How many did you have so far today? #diet #nutrition ow.ly/d7dX30nMJ62

Manual therapy has shaped our rootsβ€”but should it still shape our identity? In this clip, we dig into the tension between historical influence, public perception, and what fellowship training truly teaches: OMPT is far more than one technique.

Always good to talk with my friend @MKargelaDPT on the @modernpaincare podcast about OMPT. Hope our discussion is helpful for someone out there.
The debate around β€œmanual therapy” is bigger than semanticsβ€”it’s about history, identity, and how we communicate our value. This clip breaks down why the term still shapes clinician understanding, even as our models evolve.
