I grew up with this sort of thing. I suppose most who are (rightly) mocking it don’t really understand it. Ultimately, it’s desparation to force a connection with God. It’s no different than idolatry or even works righteousness, even if others appear more dignified.
Checking in with that church media team from yesterday.

To be preserved through a trial is a greater blessing than to be protected from a trial.

I am 43 years old. I've been working since I was 13. I started my first small business at 16. I live comfortably and am very blessed to have what God, who sent His Son to die for my sins, so graciously gives me, a sinner. A trillionaire existing does no harm to me, or to you.
I am 52 years old. I have been working since I was 15 years old. I have no savings, no retirement, and will never own a home before I die. And there is now a trillionaire.

I get that Anthropic is a very unlikable company, but they're still the good guys. The people trying to ban math are the bad guys. There is no way out but through.
I’ve had a number of conversations with folks inside and outside government about the current situation with Anthropic, and here is what I believe to be true: — As we know, Anthropic publicly released its Mythos class models earlier this week under the commercial name Fable. — Fable is Mythos with guardrails. But if those guardrails fail, then you’ve exposed Mythos and its advanced cyber capabilities to people who shouldn’t have them. (Keep in mind that Anthropic itself widely promoted the idea that Mythos was a cyberweapon and needed to be regulated as such. They asked for government regulation of Mythos and championed the guardrails on Fable. If there is a vulnerability — big or small — it is Anthropic’s responsibility to patch.) — A highly credible trusted partner of both Anthropic and the USG who was testing Fable came forward with a jailbreak of those guardrails. The Admin asked Dario to fix the jailbreak or de-deploy the model. Dario refused. — In their blog post, Anthropic defended its decision by saying the jailbreak isn’t serious. That is not what the trusted partner and the USG believe; nor is that kind of minimizing language consistent with Anthropic’s brand as the AI safety company. It’s difficult to fathom how they could claim a jailbreak allowing operability of a cyber weapon could be defined as not “serious.” — In the past, Anthropic has always said that safety must be top priority and taken super seriously. In this case, Anthropic prioritized the continued offering of the consumer model over safety. — In reaction, the Admin issued the export control. The Admin did this reluctantly. It’s been very surprised that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to cooperate with a reasonable safety request (ie fixing the jailbreak issue). Anthropic’s reaction is very much at odds with their branding and ethos as a safe AI research community. — The Admin’s hope now is that Anthropic remediates the safety issue, the export control is lifted, and Fable goes back into general release. The Admin wants all of this to happen as soon as possible. It is frankly bewildered that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to comply with safety requests that it previously said were its highest priority. — Those trying to misdirect and tie this action to the prior DoW/Anthropic issues are wrong. The Admin values Anthropic’s technical capabilities and feels that this issue, while serious, should be easily resolved. The ball is in Anthropic’s court.

Two reasons you should reject Elisabeth Elliot’s let-go-and-let-God approach to pursuing marriage: - She’s a woman. (Why would Ligonier platform her?) - She’s exegeting her experience rather than Scripture. - She’s reporting on a world we don’t live any more.

Elisabeth Elliot met Jim 99 years after feminism’s official beginning in 1848. We are 80% further along that timeline. Why assume passivity will still produce the same results? You can expect flowers to grow by themselves in a field, but not in a desert.

Over 6 months since the challenge was first posted. Folks keep selling Christian teaching like no disaster will befall them (Micah 3:11).

One of the last classes I took in seminary required a few missiology books. All my former studies felt anchored in the word, but I felt like suddenly every author I was reading was flying by the seat of their pants. I think the whole field is due for a rehaul.

And now is the time. It is primarily unbelievers who have built digital archives and AI, yet we reap the reward. Ecclesiastes 2:26 and Proverbs 13:22 are being fulfilled before our eyes.
Good retrieval strengthens the church of Christ.

The ecologists cannot begin to fathom how polluted our land is. Numbers 35:33—Do not pollute the land where you live, for bloodshed pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land on which the blood is shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it.

Last singles’ dinner message I gave was on forgiveness, and surprisingly, it was the most controversial one that I’ve done. Lots of discussion even after the video ended. youtube.com/watch?v=gMTYIjsg…

Uno reverse: Saying marriage can be an idol, can be an idol.
Two things can be true at the same time: 1. Marriage is normative & to be pursued 2. Anything can be pursued sinfully, making it an idol It’s not that hard.

Some of you aren’t ready for this, but teaching-centric parachurch orgs should not receive a dime of anyone’s money. (William of Saint Amour and John Wycliffe addressed this extensively in the Secular-Mendicant Controversy.) The *church* is the pillar and buttress of the truth.
Singleness can be a gift that the Lord uses for your good and His glory. Watch as Rebecca VanDoodewaard encourages single women to be fruitful with the time God has given them.

When the message is irrefutable, its delivery enters the cross hairs.
Almost 14 years ago, I was pursuing ministry in the Reformed Church in America (RCA). A mid-certification interview was conducted by a group that included female clergy. They asked about women’s ordination, and I politely told them I disagreed with it based on the Bible’s teaching. They failed me on the basis that I didn’t “empathize enough with women.”
