It helps low-income families afford healthy food during pregnancy and early childhood, which is when good nutrition is most essential. The estimated cut is almost $150 million to fruit-and-vegetable vouchers. This is warfare against toddlers, preschoolers, pregnant women, and postpartum parents enrolled in the program.
