The Minister spoke today with the High Representative/Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas.
They discussed developments of mutual interest, including those relating to the Pacific, Gaza, Ukraine, the Arctic, and the international, rules-based system.
The Minister, reflecting on his conversations during his visit to the Nordic region late last year, reiterated New Zealand’s view that the status of Greenland is a matter for the people of Greenland.

It was great to talk this morning with my friend, President Zelenskyy, with it an opportunity to assure him of New Zealand’s steadfast support to Ukraine.
The President and his people are courageous in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression.
We discussed the path to a just and lasting peace, with the next step being the need for Russia to show it too is serious about ending the war by agreeing an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.

Today MFAT welcomed a delegation of Permanent Representatives to @NATO for engagements in New Zealand. The delegation met with Secretary of Foreign Affairs @BedeCorry and other senior leaders to learn about New Zealand’s perspectives on security as a South Pacific nation. They discussed the interconnectedness of Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic issues.
