The death of a retired Major General in captivity raises serious concerns about security in the country. If someone of his stature could not be protected, the average Nigerian can only wonder how safe they truly are.

May Allah continue to protect us from such evil people and keep us safe from harm. May we never encounter them, not even in our dreams. The entire country is facing a serious security challenge, and many citizens are living in fear and uncertainty. Innocent people are being killed, kidnapped, and subjected to unimaginable suffering, while the perpetrators often act with the confidence that they may never be held accountable. It is heartbreaking to witness these tragic events unfold repeatedly. The government and security agencies must intensify their efforts to protect lives and restore public confidence. No nation can truly progress when its people live in constant fear. May Allah bring peace, justice, and lasting security to our land, protect every innocent soul, and comfort the families affected by these tragedies. Ameen

Dear, @NGRPresident @NGRSenate @NGRHouse @fccnigeria @CalebMutfwang @hrw @AJEnglish @CNN PLATEAU STATE: PRESS STATEMENT BY THE MUSLIM YOUTHS COUNCIL OF PLATEAU ON THE ISSUE OF IMBALANCE IN LEADERSHIP OF FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS IN PLATEAU STATE Date: 12th June, 2026 Venue: Jos, Plateau State PROTOCOL Gentlemen of the Press, We warmly welcome you and appreciate your presence at this important press briefing. Today, we speak on behalf of the Muslim Youths Council of Plateau, a body committed to promoting justice, fairness, peaceful coexistence, and equal opportunities for all citizens regardless of religious or ethnic background. We wish to draw the attention of the Federal Government and the general public to a growing concern among Muslim youths and many other stakeholders in Plateau State — the consistent and noticeable imbalance in the appointment of heads of Federal Government institutions located within the state. Our observations over the years show a clear pattern: almost all heads of key federal institutions in Plateau State are Christians, with little or no representation of Muslims, despite the fact that Plateau is a multi-religious and diverse state. Among the institutions observed are: - National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI), Vom - Federal College of Veterinary and Medical Laboratory Technology, Vom - Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Vom - Federal College of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology, Jos - University of Jos - Industrial Training Fund (ITF) - Federal College of Forestry, Jos - National Centre for Remote Sensing, Jos - National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru - NTA College, Jos While we acknowledge the qualifications and contributions of those currently occupying these positions, we are deeply concerned that the leadership structure does not reflect the religious diversity and balance expected in a plural society like Nigeria. This situation raises serious questions about the practical implementation of the Federal Character Principle, which is enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and meant to ensure fairness, inclusiveness, and equitable representation. Let us be clear: Our position is not driven by religious hostility or division, nor are we against merit-based appointments. However, merit must not be used as a justification for consistent exclusion of a particular group. Equity demands that all segments of society feel represented and included. Plateau State has always been known for peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians. However, when one group is consistently overlooked in leadership positions, it creates feelings of marginalization and weakens trust in government institutions.

If I may advise Arewa Twitter, let’s put cruise and funny tweets aside for now and unite our voices against insecurity. If a retired Major General who served this country can die in kidnappers’ captivity, then who among us is truly safe? Northern Nigeria is bleeding. Bandits and kidnappers are everywhere, innocent people are being killed daily, farmers cannot access their farmlands, and families are paying ransoms just to survive. This is also the time to call out APC PR bots who have sold their voices for little money, flooding this app with praise and pretending Nigeria is safe while people are dying. Where is your humanity? While we are living in fear, losing loved ones to bandits and kidnappers, Tinubu and APC PR bots keep listing roads, railways, and infrastructure projects as if that is our biggest concern. You can list all the roads, railways, and projects you want, but what value do they have when citizens cannot travel safely on them? A government’s first responsibility is the protection of lives and property. Before celebrating infrastructure, tell us why insecurity continues to worsen across many parts of the North. Northern Nigeria is bleeding, and no amount of propaganda can hide that reality.

May Nigeria happen to Them too😭 Honestly, I never expected to hear such words from the person entrusted with national security, as a Nigerian it’s very disappointing. We pray because we have faith to God and the same time we look to our Leaders because they have responsibility. Hearing “Only God can End Nigerian Insecurity” feels like those in power accepted defeat from these An1mals living in the bush while citizens continue to live in fear, in bazaku iya ba ku sauka dan kutmar uban ku. Nobody is expecting miracle but we do expect determination, accountability, and relentless commitment in protecting lives of the citizens. Statement like this do not inspire confidence leaving us wondering whether these people understand their responsibility. Allah ya tsine muku albarka
