Hypermutator cancers are defined by increased mutation rates. But do mutation rates evolve with time during tumour growth?⏱️ In this work @NatureGenet we show that hypermutator cancers use an unexpected set of genetic gear switches to adapt mutation rates to immune selection.

We welcome Sjors Middelkamp as our newest postdoc. He got off to a great start this week, being immediately awarded the NWO talent grant ‘Veni’ to continue his research on single-cell genome sequencing that he developed in the @BoxtelLab. @UMCU_CMM @NWOFunding @oncodeinstitute

I am super happy to share the first work of the lab on #gastruloids. All started with @MariettaLHartl that was extremely brave to start a new project on early development. bit.ly/3ocuTqj With @SimonSuppinger they showed mechanisms of gastruloid development

Now out in @CellStemCell: researchers in the lab of @priscaliberali mapped the development of 3D clusters of cells that mimic aspects of early embryonic stages, providing insights into how complex patterns emerge from a homogeneous population of cells.
