Wait what? Rio 3.5 Open 397B, developed by IT company of Rio de Janeiro's city government is now SOTA open source and even outperforming Qwen 3.7? What is happening today. Never heard of them before.
Alibaba Qwen3.7 slowly fading into irrelevance at the frontier due to proprietary stance. In it's place we have Minimax M3 and... *checks notes* Rio 3.5 397b, made by the municipal IT company of Rio de Janeiro's city government. huggingface.co/prefeitura-ri…
Community note
Analysis shows Rio-3.5-Open-397B is a 0.6/0.4 weight merge of Nex N2 Pro and Qwen 3.5, not an originally trained model. When the system prompt is removed, it identifies as Nex 79.2% of the time. x.com/NexEcosystem/s… github.com/nex-agi/Nex-N2…

“I don’t understand why people hate Elon Musk so much.” It’s easy to explain. Jealousy. Resentment. Envy. Stupidity. Those are basic. Economic illiteracy and hatred of free speech also play a part.

The three-pronged propaganda strategy: 1. Subsidize the media until journalists become mouthpieces 2. Pressure the platforms until dissent disappears 3. Criminalize whatever survives as "hate" or "harm"

Opensource AI Must Win AI is a civilizational infrastructure for work, education, science, software, creativity, public services, and national capacity Access must not depend on closed APIs, remote platforms, shifting terms, opaque moderation, model availability, or prices set by a handful of companies Opensource AI should remain usable, understandable, reproducible, locally deployable, economically viable, and community-governed even if today's dominant labs, foreign labs, hardware vendors, cloud platforms, or open-weight model providers change direction or disappear If intelligence becomes something people can only rent from a few closed institutions, the public does not just lose software freedom. It loses operational freedom The ability to study, build, repair, deploy, audit, adapt, teach, preserve, and run intelligence systems without asking permission is of existential importance When a small number of closed frontier labs and platform companies control the models, this infrastructure risks becoming a subscription economy for cognition Opensource AI Must Win

DISCORD IS THE TROJAN HORSE TO DIGITAL ID >Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has sued Discord accusing the platform enabled child predators, deceived parents, and violated the state’s Deceptive Trade Practices Act. >Paxton wants a judge to order mandatory age verification for every user on the platform under the Securing Children Online through Parental Empowerment Act, Texas’ SCOPE law. >Texas would institute mandatory ID verification....TO USE DISCORD: Government ID uploads. Elizabeth Warren complaining about high prices is like an arsonist complaining about smoke. The policies she supports helped make housing, education, and healthcare unaffordable, then she uses the resulting crisis to justify more of the same.

Mike Pence wants more "civility" from Conservatives -- by which he means surrender. For perspective, what happened when two of our most intellectual Founding Fathers faced off:
During their presidential race John Adams supporters accused Thomas Jefferson of planning to have black slaves rape white women in the streets and Jefferson’s supporters accused Adams of being a transvestite

“It’s always just a little more” until the productive class is treated as an infinite ATM and the actual structural problems never get solved. If ending hunger or rebuilding infrastructure were as simple as confiscating a fraction of billionaire wealth one time, governments spending trillions already would’ve solved it decades ago.
If billionaires paid taxes, real taxes the way they used to Before Ronald Reagan changed it for them, and if farming practices changed from the factory farming model that the US loves and went to permaculture/ holistic agriculture, we would be able to feed everyone and rebuild infrastructure.

“Moral clarity” somehow always means stopping success before everyone else can benefit from it. People said the same thing about factories, oil, computers, and the internet. Those technologies disrupted jobs, concentrated wealth early, then made billions richer and life easier. Notice the framing isn’t “how do we maximize prosperity with AI?” It’s “how do we stop billionaires from getting richer?” That reveals the priority: resentment over abundance.

“They’ll make you reliant on capitalism” is basically saying: “They’ll make you rely on production, trade, competition, and voluntary exchange instead of political dependency.” That’s not a warning. That’s an argument for freedom.

Crazy that Constantinople fell almost entirely because the Emperor didn't want to pay for a Hungarian's autism project (building a 19 ton cannon with a 30" bore inspired by much smaller models introduced by the Mongols) so the autist in question asked the Ottomans if they would like to fund his superweapon instead. Being tired of repeatedly losing, they said yes and threw money at him to make the damn thing, which destroyed the previously unassailable walls of the city using 1200lb cannon balls with a range of up to a mile. Dude wasn't concerned with politics, religion, or the civilizational consequences of his actions. He just really wanted to make an enormous cannon, and by god did he succeed.

1. The crusade did not expanding Christianity; it was to defend Byzantium, which was besieged by Islam. 2. The expansion of Christianity was done through evangelization and only became military when a king became Christian and forced his subjects to convert.Really was martyrdom:
