I am extremely grateful to the Mayor’s Office of Equity and Civil Rights for bringing faith leaders from all corners of Baltimore for the Prayer for The City Ceremony.
My most prized possession is a coin gifted to me by my grandmother, with a small hole through the middle. She dropped her entire life, and sewed all her money into her clothes to escape from Austria during the Holocaust. With no clear path and no community to support her, she only had faith in a brighter future. Because of her faith, I stand here today as your City Council President.
Here, in Baltimore, spirituality will always be at our core. Now more than ever, we need to unite and stand for good over evil.
